Western Sahara has welcomed Morocco's readmission to the African Union, 32 years after members refused to withdraw support for the territory's independence.
It was a "good opportunity" and "a chance to work together," a top Western Sahara official told the BBC. Morocco controls two-thirds of Western Sahara and sees it as part of its historic territory. However some, including the UN, see Western Sahara as Africa's last colony.
Basically all African countries are now part of the AU.
I remember reading up about the AU recently, thought it was funny that Morocco was the only African country not in it
nice to see cooperation in Africa,

i wouldnt call it cooperation by any stretch. the AU is first and foremost a way to defuse territorial squabbles and unify policies on things like aids, malaria and other diseases. the AU doesnt really deal with the puppet democricies or the resource exploitation by chinese or foreign countries in africa

It's a start.
What would eventually become the EU started out as an effort spearheaded by the US to rebuild the economies of Europe post-WWII. Eventually the African Union could evolve into a proper economic and political entity.

What do you mean, spearheaded by the us?
It wasnt spearheaded by the US - that was NATO.
The US did aid many countries in Europe however.
I was just reading about Morocco and Western Sahara this morning to kill time. Hope all works out

You're talking about the official "On paper" evolution of the EU
He's talking about the economic and political context which was set up, in some ways, by the US.

Nevermind I mixed up the ECSC with the Marshal Plan.
