Isn't the Dell version the best one to go for?

If you're actually going to drop the 1k, get the dell. Dell has a really good reputation with their monitors.
This ones better.

I recommend from experience the Dell 3007WFP-HC.

I wholeheartedly double this recommendation.
Bear in mind that if you intend to play any recent games at said resolution, you'll want to have a good recent graphics card. Though, in truth a monitor of that size isn't to be used in gaming; but for graphics design. In most cases, you're going to be a lot better off investing in a multi-display setup. Multi-tasking is much easier, much more room to work with.
Think of it like this, a single monitor at $1000 or 4/5 monitors for around $200.
1920 x 1080 (x4) vs 2560x1600 (x1) You decide, but it's your money.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236049 is a great monitor for around $200.
If you don't have a good modern graphics card such as one in the Nvidia 200 series (higher end cards only, i.e. GTX 280) or 400 series, or a HD 58XX or 48X0x2 you ought to invest your money into one. Not much point in such a high end monitor setup without one.
Would the OP please provide us with more information so that we might help him better? Please check the sticky for information regarding the requirements when posting a thread; this allows for us to quickly help you and provide as much information as we can. To kinda show what I mean, none of us with the exception maybe a mod (given they check) know your location. Do we know to direct you to UK vendors, Australian vendors? Tell you that it's hard to find a hardware vendor in Djibouti?
Yeah I've been where the OP is now, looking for a good one. I wish I could get one, but they're damn big an expensive. This res should go down to 26" screens, as I could use a bit of an upgrade from my 24" screen with a loose connection.
Hell the 27" iMac can go to 2560x1440, nearly 2560x1600, so why isn't there any alternative to it, so you could get a monitor like that without needing the whole iMac computer?

$45 grand and they still have the nerve to charge $120 in shipping.
Bastards :saddowns:

Nice car, or a mediocre monitor, you decide.

That is ridiculous, I understand the logic about productivity but saying they are not intended to be used in gaming is ridiculous. If someone can afford a $1300-1500 monitor I don't think that having an up-to-date graphics card is an issue.
Also, for productivity's sake a multiple monitor setup including a 30" is amazing ;)
Also comparing a high end Dell Ultrasharp 30" to a low end $200 24" LCD is not a proper comparison.
Dell 30" is the best.
