HILO, Hawaii (AP) - Scientists say they've found evidence of plastic rock on a Big Island beach. The rocks are formed when melted plastic mixes with beach sediment, basalt fragments and other types of debris. A report in the journal GSA Today says the result is a new type of rock called plastiglomerate. The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports the scientists focused their research on Kamilo Beach because it receives large deposits of ocean debris, including plastic. Partial lid containers contributed to 22 percent of the fragments. Fishing equipment was found in 20 percent of the samples.
Did my feet just fold back into my body. I think they did.
the glass is round like pebbles because the seawater erodes it
Did my feet just fold back into my body. I think they did.
People who don't fear death apparently frolic on it all the time without shoes. Now if somebody were to smash a bottle on that. The perfect crime.
It feels fucking amazing on your feet if you find a beach with some hot sand to combine up with it. It's like a free foot massage.
plastic rock discovered*

Man, are you freakin blind? That's a rock.

Did my feet just fold back into my body. I think they did.
The glass has been smoothened by the crashing seawater for decades, to the point that each piece is nice and rounded.
Would be nice if there was, ya know a picture or something. What kind of article doesn't have a picture for something like this, they're going so far as to call it a new type of rock for christ's sake!
Looks like clumps of junk basically.
Well I don't know what I expected haha, thanks.
fuck that was such a good album
lol, that shit looks like slag to me. the blue looks cool, and if it's from corrosion, which is possible considering the ocean, then it could be something like Azurite or one of the millions of copper oxide minerals.
This new rock would be great for Hank's collection.
yeah right r u trying to get everyone killed with this disinformation
You could check out glass beach at Fort Bragg, CA, for starters.
The glass has been smoothened by the crashing seawater for decades, to the point that each piece is nice and rounded.
It always interests me when I find one of those, you never know where that glass originated, how old it is or what importance it has.
It always interests me when I find one of those, you never know where that glass originated, how old it is or what importance it has.
Well, it's usually just trash that was dumped there. So I'd say they're usually beer and soda bottles, and other things glass.

That picture must be pretty old because there's not really any large shards left there. Everyone covets the smooth glass pebbles from the glass beach.
