im' gaye
Fucking snowballs. How do they work.
Notch really should be implementing this, instead of his sky dimension thingy imo
I'll wait until the official mod API comes out before I really mess around with something this big. We need worlds to specify which mods they have been created with first.
Seeing this makes me realise how notch failed at making the nether interesting.

This wouldn't mesh well with Minecraft at all. Like RPS said, this is almost a total conversion, and adding mods like this would make the Minecraft into some awkward patchwork of differing design styles and asymmetrical levels of content.

It doesn't add anything too different to the main game, just things that actually would make the game better. (More equipment slots, accessory slots etc.)

Just because a mod might improve something doesn't mean it would make sense as a natural part of the game. Mods are their own creature.

I'd rather Mojang make the game they want than make it a collection of FotM mods, even if it means less content. The mods are still there if you think Notch is a big lazy fatty and his floating islands are stupid and you hate them.
Seems to me like there's actually more shit to do in the Aether than in the regular world.
Seems to me like there's actually more shit to do in the Aether than in the regular world.
You get to the nether by doing normal shit in the normal realm you get to the aether by mining shit in the nether and you go to the normal world by falling off a cloud.

While I agree, that does not mean original Minecraft shouldn't have contained stuff like this to begin with. Which is what your comment seems to infer depending on your perspective. Tacking it onto minecraft as it is now would require a reinvention of The Nether as well as probably Minecraft itself to make it seamless, which... is an interesting proposition. So you are right in saying that Minecraft in its current state is too gray for this colorful addition.

The Aether only really makes sense as a mod- it's a load of extra content for people who are board of vanilla, and has little to do with the original game. If Notch is moving more toward a Terraria type game with 1.8, then he probably has his own plans for floating islands, and I'd rather him stick to his own vision, even if it isn't as good.
The nether probably could have been much better with dungeons, etc.
There ISN'T a heaven. Sorry RPS.
The nether probably could have been much better with dungeons, etc.
18 minutes into the video he enters the sky dungeon.
18 minutes into the video he enters the sky dungeon.
Yeah I know I said the nether.
Seems like the modding community is putting more effort than Notch does into Minecraft. [editline]26th July 2011[/editline] Power to the people.
