I read on Gamespot that he said he wasn't going to resign.

Also phone games :suicide:
$4 billion?
Nintendo is sitting on $10 billion, iirc they take losses like this for a couple of decades. But let's hope it doesn't come to that.
[editline]17th January 2014[/editline]
And this phone thing isn't exactly news. There's been a rumor about them playing around with phones for a while now.
Maybe if every fucking eshop game wasn't $40.00 they'd make more money.
P-Pc ports of first party games?
That will never happen though, and I really can't be bothered to buy a console for a few games that I want.
Let's hope this new business structure involves better marketing and an overhaul of their pitiful network infrastructure.
Does this mean we might finally get online purchases not bound to one device?

Purchases are tied to your account and console. You can "easily" transfer it to a new console but you need to contact Nintendo and give them your new system's info.
Horrible system, but it's better than losing everything if your system fails.
Nintendo understand the art of the interactive experience. Unfortunately, they don't understand that gaming in the west is just a pyramid scheme to sell doritos and mountain dew, so they're kind of missing out on that market.

What if behind everything isn't the illuminati but just a giant machine that runs on money that was spent on Mountain Dew and Doritos and all related merchandise?

Yeah that's a horrible system (and the only reason I'm still buying game cartridges for my 3DS).
Nintendo was way too overconfident when building the Wii U. Stuff like not even having tested out Live or PSN when building their network service shows that, and hopefully now they realize that changes are very necessary.
They most likely did that (ingored PSN and XBL) since they don't see Sony or Microsoft as competitors for some reason, which I can kind of understand but it's still really dumb.

this is Nintendo's problem, They think they are immune to competition.
this is Nintendo's problem, They think they are immune to competition.
They don't view the others as competition since neither Sony or Microsoft focus ONLY on games like they do.
this is Nintendo's problem, They think they are immune to competition.
That's the biggest problem with the Wii U's marketing. The console is a full $200 cheaper than the Xbone and $100 cheaper than the PS4. All they gotta do is say that in a commercial.
Well, first they gotta have commercials in the first place. That's an important step, might wanna do that one first.
Just go third party Nintendo, keep what honor you have left.

dude they've got a throne made out of ten billion dollars, they can completely flub as many console launches as they please and still have money to keep trucking along.
that's always been the problem though, is that they can afford to take the hit and for some insane reason, up until this point, they've actually been taking it
the higher-ups at nintendo were looking at the success of the 3DS and the failure of the wii u and were saying "Nah, we're making ENOUGH money. No need to attend to the Wii U."
I hope these changes they're talking about mean that they'll stop doing that and actually start operating like a company that wants to make a profit.

Thats not a very good business plan.
Thats not a very good business plan.
I don't recall saying that it was.
In fact, I'm pretty sure that most of my post was mocking that business plan.
Let's hope they start making the right decissions, now that they acknowledged there has to be done something.
I don't think bringing Nintendo Franchises to other systems would be a solution, because they'd sell even less hardware that way. So this would be the last thing they should do right now.
All it needs is a flood of quality games, ASAP.
All the Nintendo Franchises that aren't under internal Development right now should get outsourced to an apropriate Studio.
Why not a new F-Zero from Sega? Why not having a Kid Icarus Game made by Tresure?
What about Porting a few more games from DS/3DS for release on eShop?
Why no GameCube games on VC?
etc.
Even without Thirdparties the console could have so much to offer.
Nintendo has the money, they should use it to get the resources they need.
A virtual console with the best NES, SNES, GBC, GBA, Genesis, maybe even Dreamcast, N64, Gamecube, and Wii titles would be the best thing ever. I would not even need another console again and I wouldn't have to pirate whatever old game I feel like playing. It's entirely in the realm of reason to want this. They have the resources. It's ridiculous that they aren't doing anything with it. I love the idea of the Wii U and think there's so much potential there. If only they would utilize it.

lmfao i dont think you understand what the term pyramid scheme means
They honestly just have to release games that everybody strikes for. (Starfox, F-Zero or a new Kirby game)
They'd be trillionaires in seconds.
They need to sell more playing cards

the whole post is a joke

The thing is, Nintendo obviosly did the whole VC concept the wrong way.
They allready did that on Wii.
Porting each of the old games to run on the Wii/WiiU instead of programming an emulator which is able to run the original games.
It's funny that the homebrew emulators for Wii run allmost every game perfectly (up to 16bit), have more features and play every game you can find the rom of.
While the VC offers only a selection of games that is overy expensive and also much bigger in download size then the original games (but without increase of quality).
They should have done some kind of emulator themself, feed the original roms to test them out, release the working ones and improve on the emulator/settings for the ones having issues.
We literally could have the whole NES, SNES and N64 games library (with some exceptions because of licence conflicts) released by now, for a much cheaper price per game.
Honnestly 8€ for an old SNES Game? I can get most of the original Modules for even less money and play them on my SNES which still works btw.
A few clever deals with Sega and other former console manufracturers and the WiiU could become the best Retro gaming console available.
Also they should promote the backwards compatibility more.
Because that's one thing the other two are lacking completly (don't tell me about streaming of PS3 games, this is not a worthy replacement especially for ppl without fast internet)
