I'm looking for some good horror games where the atmosphere is virtually dark and you have to have a flashlight or some kind of light source you carry around with you most of the time, kinda like Doom 3 or Amnesia.
Penumbra if you haven't played it yet. Dead Space 1 is actually pretty scary despite the gameplay appearance. The original FEAR games are pretty good too.
Afraid of monsters and cry of fear, they're some pretty scary half-life 1 mods and they're so dark you won't know what your doing most of the game.

I wouldn't really call SS2 one of those dark games that you have use a flashlight and everything but it is without a doubt the best horror game I've ever played. No game has been able to get me as scared, paranoid, and freaked out as SS2.
I wish horror games that where actually scary weren't so scarce
unless it have's to be an FPS try the first 3 Silent Hill Game's ( 4's not bad but I won't call it Silent Hill
)
I just started a Half life 2 episode 2 mod called Grey.
It is pretty scary.
Dead Space 1, Cry of Fear (Half-Life 1 mod)
I will second Nightmare House 2 and Condemned: Criminal Origins.

I didn't really like Grey, it just seemed like a watered-down version of Cry of Fear/Afraid of Monsters.
DooM3
RE 1, RE 2 and RE Nemesis.
Imscared is fucking awful.
Awful as in really scary or terrible? I thought it was pretty good.
I really recommend Penumbra, I would say Black Plauge is scarier than Overture though.

one of the best games i have ever played
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Scary at how [sp]god awful it is[/sp]

F.E.A.R.
I mean, come on, it's in the title!
Rule of Rose
Alone in the Dark series
Fatal Frame (Personally I don't like this one, not that scary, but the majority seems to enjoy it.)

And god damned people F.E.A.R. is not scary.
Underhell is pretty freaky. Something intense might happen, or practically nothing at all and the the anticipation makes you tense. Also it's somewhat nonlinear so what happens or doesn't is up to the player.
I haven't actually played it though, but this much I gathered from gameplay videos. It also switches between horror and action with no real gameplay connection.
