Facepunch Collaborative number 11 - Summer hits for shits (and giggles)
125 replies, posted
Hello friends, I think it is time for yet another collaborative album :)
The rules are the same as the last time:
THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE IS THAT IF YOU SUBMIT TO THIS, YOU HAVE TO WRITE A SHORT REVIEW OF ALL THE SONGS IN THIS ALBUM AS WELL.
1) Have to be an original song, no covers or use of acapellas from artists you have no affiliation with!
2) Have to be normalized to -3db, this is to make sure every track is the same level. Don't know how to do it? Just send me the final song and I'll do it free of charge for the low price of nothing!
3) Has to be a .wav, when you export it from your favourite DAW (digital audio workstation) of choice, pick .wav, not .mp3 or anything else. Well ok, .flac works as well, but it has to be lossless. Check it out on google if you want to know more
4) Have to be really good. This is of course purely subjective so make whatever you want to do as long as you feel proud about it, because this is an album that is going to be posted everywhere!
5) All proceedings are going to charity.
Let's have the deadline at 26th of June 2014
We're going to need a poster for this as well, anyone who feels like they can do it?

[editline]12th June 2014[/editline]
is there going to be quality control? I think the last album had some kind of control?
[editline]12th June 2014[/editline]
that might not be required since everyone is starting to be so good here lmao
eep i might be able to, holidays coming up

I don't think there has ever been any quality control on these albums and why start now? And yeah everybody is so talented that there's no need really. :)
You can also post tracks that are already done, I think it was a rule before that no old tracks were to be included?
ehh, im pretty demotivated with this, i recall myself being literally the only person to give any feedback last time

Hey, remember that time when the last collaborative album was released and there was noone in the music section giving feedback on even any normal music in CMIP? Or that the place was so demotivated because noone helped each other out at all anyway?
Considering CMIP has changed since then, it's not beyond the realms of expectation that you won't be the only one to give out feedback this time, in fact I think we could make it a rule of submission

i like the idea of making it a rule, that's why people in CMIP started giving feedback as well
i'll just have to work fast, i haven't made anything in a while and my setup for real instruments isn't done yet
Added a bolded part about everyone is going to have to write their own short review of all the songs on this album, no exceptions.
Common courtesy I think, and at most this album is going to be like 1½ hour, people can just write what they like/dislike about the track while listening to it.
I;m down, and in the process of writing a track. Any rules on how long it has to be? I tend to write short music, partially as a genre thing, and (mostly) because I don't like repeating anything.
Also, how's the review thing going to work? Are all of the participants sent the full album, then give feedback to each song, and until this is done, it isn't released? I think it's a pretty interesting thing to do nonetheless.
It works like this;
Step 1) People make their music (or have it already made) and they send it to me as a .wav, with it being normalised at -3db (it works like this, people render it out of their program of choice, with it peaking in volume at top -3db).
Step 2) The album is released with bandcamp, and shared on this forum and other places if people wish to do so.
Step 3) The people involved (and hopefully other people) write down what they think of the album and every song individually.
There's no rule on how long or short a track has to be, people usually get bored with long tracks however.
Perhaps we should make a review thread in here though
Oh wow - another one! I'll do the artwork, and submit a track.
Any color/theme preferences?

theme is summer of course

It might make it easier to see every review, personally I don't think it is necessary although if you want to make that thread then please do so :)

Happy fun summery as Hakita said, looking forward to see both cover and your track! I'm already stoked as hell to see what everyone is gonna do, so many talented people on this forum! I feel blessed to be able to share a spot on the album(s) :)
well im mostly done with my track, it's about 8 minutes long currently but i haven't written an ending for it yet so it might be even longer than that depending on how i feel it should end

its called moe you can only find it in its purest form in the cutest of cute girl animes
I'll write a song. Don't suppose there's a theme to follow or anything?

How many songs max can one person make?
Unfortunately can't contribute due to label ties, but I wish you guys the best of luck and I will support the album as far as I possibly can!

me and you are polar oposite, your tracks are rarely shorter than about 6 mins, where as mine are a maximum of 2.
Finished my track, I don't get this whole mastering business, seeing as I don't use any of those FL studios, Cubase or whatever the fuck you guys write music on.

Labels sound like such a bullshit hassle, why not write a track under a different name or something? You have that alternate soundcloud for a reason right?

maybe you could take this album as an opportunity to write something completely different under a new name or something, i don't know
i'm working on a dnb track right now, i'll consider sending it in for the collab
I'll join in again. Don't know if I'll make it in 13 days though.
Actually fuck it, I'll write something under a different name :v:
How many songs max can one person make?
just one like usual, i'd assume
I think I'm going to the beach on Tuesday. I'll muck around, and see if I can come up with some cool artwork then.
Deadline is the last day of my exams :(. Not enough time, nvm
Is there any reason why the deadline is the 26th? It just seems a little arbitrary, imo it would make more sense to have it be at the end of the month, then the release date some time around the 4th of July. That would give people like killerteacup (and me) who have exams around that point (mine is on the 24th) time to work on their tracks.
I'd love to try and make a track for this, I haven't been in one of these since like collaborative number 5 and I was pretty damn bad back then. Count me in!
