is there any reason to buy this Black Mesa Addon/Remake? is it just Half Life 1 reskin or like Resident Evil Remake with added content?

You've got it all wrong. Resident Evil 1 is a remaster, it's only developed to work with resolutions and such to deliver a 1:1 experience of the original with some tweaked controls. The added content is a nice touch though. Black Mesa is a complete remake.Everything is rebuilt in a way to make more sense while keeping the Half Life atmosphere and distinct level design. Everything is done from scratch. Animations, music, sounds, level design, etc. This is also the difference between a remaster (RE) and a remake (Black Mesa).

There is plenty of reason. It is not a reskin or a graphics update like Halo anniversary. The game is remade from ground up, the levels are expanded. Xen for example will be several times bigger than in the original game.
Looks more like Dear Esther than a next-gen Xen I've imagined, I'm still impressed
Well it's a cave and there weren't many of those. If they show exterior it will probably look more like classic Xen.

So you'll never touch it?

Give that hl3 to me.
I need it.

Wish it was a little more green or orange. Lots of the enemies had green or orange energy attacks or effects, kinda figured it was thematic.
Wish it was a little more green or orange. Lots of the enemies had green or orange energy attacks or effects, kinda figured it was thematic.
to be fair, none of this screenshot shows the skybox/"sky" lighting so it might just be the caves that are like this

The blue lighting seems to have been placed by humans (hence the platform etc), so it doesn't really tell us much about the natural xenian lighting. The eye stalk lights are still orange-y.
I like it though, because it combines the original aesthetic with that of the Antlion caves from Ep2, which is the only time we've seen a Xen-like environment in the HL2 engine (Antlions being Xenian and all)

What are you talking about? Resident Evil 1 is a complete remake, as is Black Mesa

It still is a surprise
This doesn't look alien enough to be Xen
Well it makes sense at least. It always bothered me that for all the shit the Lambda Labs seemed to be doing involving Xen and teleportation, the only things you found in Xen itself were bodies and ammo everywhere conveniently. If they'd been at Xen researching it for a while, researchers should've left a lot more shit to make traversing a super-deadly alien dimension a bit easier.

This might be near the start where humans have already explored quite a bit.

It all reminds me of the levels in Doom 3 where you had all that scientific equipment and scaffolds around the ruins. Well, the stories are very similar with the teleportation technology used to cross dimensions and stuff.

You DO know black mesa sent scientists over to Xen to mine minerals and study the alien life there? That's why you see man made metal builds. It definitely looks like an alien world under the study by invading humans.
The detail is amazing however I think it needs more color than darkness
I won't judge the design by one screenshot though
This doesn't look alien enough to be Xen
Outer areas will probably.

The whole world of Xen is pretty much a giant organism, which is a design I wouldn't expect the best game-dev teams in the world to do a half decent job of actually implementing in modern graphics, let alone a indie team with the source engine as its starting point.
Its direction is a compromise, to avoid

The Human equipment isn't the problem. It's the colouring and the lack of a wierd alien look to everything, it just seems like a generic cave. With Xen in HL1, even the rocks had an alien feel to them and there were all the strange plants everywhere. For example:

That looks more interesting to me than a generic dark cave type of place. I'd rather it went in this direction than the one it's currently going in.

jfc they put over a decade's worth of effort into this and you can't even fucking google it?

Yeah but that color scheme is about 100x better than the blueness of the cave. Like, they could've at least stuck to Xen's color palette.
