• Poll: Firefox VS Chrome

I've saw a lot of people who say firefox is now really bad compared to chrome but haven't found any answers other than firefox having way too much stuff on the ui. Mind posting a few arguments there and there?
As long as your not using an outdated browser anything is fine. [editline]28th August 2012[/editline] except Sparkbrowser
Chrome has a nice, simple UI that I like, and there's plenty of useful addons available. Plus it's fast. I've tried Firefox many times, but it's bloat has driven me away every single time.
Both are terrible. IE is the only browser worth using.
Both are terrible. IE is the only browser worth using.
Oh please, Netscape and SeaMonkey are way better.
Last I checked, Netscape lacked downloadable toolbars.
I agree with Frisk. Downloadable toolbars are the way to go, that's why Firefox started to use them as well but they're no where near as comprehensive as IE's.
I don't feel like finding replacements for my Firefox add-ons and it runs quite fast for me. Here's a screenshot of mine: I use omnibar, which combines the search and address bars like Chrome does, and I've put the menu bar where the search used to be so that it doesn't take up any space. I also have the iconic menu and aero for the tab space.
I started using Chrome once I decided Firefox was using up too much memory.
OK, here we go. My reasons. * Firefox has HUGE memory leaks, Chrome uses less memory if you have it open for over 30 minutes or so (Although Chrome has a higher startup signature since it starts up faster). * Firefox has a larger and clunkier UI compared to both Chrome and IE9 * Firefox is less secure than Chrome (not sure about compared to IE9), Chrome was the only browser left unhacked at one of those Hackathon things. * Firefox is outperformed by Chrome and IE9 in most benchmarks - Oh, and even in Mozilla's own benchmarking test! The only thing I can genuinely say Mozilla does better is html5 hardware acceleration - which is so rarely used it's a non-issue.
Neither.
It should really just be down to personal preference at this point. Chrome is generally faster and more secure than Firefox and supports some more stuff. However IE10, Opera, FF4+, and Safari are all viable choices still. I use Firefox because it's what I'm used to, I can't get used to the differences between it and Chrome combined with the addons I have on Firefox. Some people are complaining about memory leaks which really haven't been there since FF4 other than in some nightly builds and, if I recall correctly, one update where a memory leak slipped through which was fixed a week or two later.
Chrome replaced Firefox for me, the only thing I don't like about Chrome is I can no longer copy a URL and paste it into bookmark bar. Manually adding stuff sucks.
Where is the "I use both" option? I recently switched to Chrome, however I find myself in using Firefox sometimes and sometimes Chrome. The switch was only because of the flash errors/crashes. But they seems already fixed to me.
Over the past two years, I went from FF to Chrome to Opera/IE Opera/IE are much more enjoyable imo, par some minor lack of support in relation to userscripts
Memory leaks in Firefox were helped (again) today actually. Firefox 15.0's codename was MemShrink.
I used to use Firefox a couple years back, but over time it felt like the browser had a performance drop as it got updated and things like that, so I switched to Chrome, which I find much more responsive. At least in comparison to newer versions of Firefox.
i don't give a flying fuck about what browser i'm using so long as it works using firefox atm but i often confuse links and pick chrome instead
I use Chrome for because its tied into my Google Account. Whenever i reformat my computer or something, all i have to to do is sign in and Chrome has all of my Add-ons, passwords, history, themes, bookmarks and everything all ready to go.
I've been using Firefox for many many years now and even though I've tried Chrome several times, none of it's features made me want to switch.
Firefox generally. Chrome whenever Firefox ends up having trouble or a plugin wants to have a fight with it. Generally Firefox is worse in performance than Chrome. But Chrome's GUI is dreadful in comparision in my eyes. Firefox keeps the simplicity but has better looking tabs and stays away from using gradients to make it look rounder. I also like the menu and option system way fucking better. I don't want the settings to be put in the browser, I want it in it's own little window that is specifically designed to deal with it. The difference in the performance between the two is barely visible in the first place and I just prefer Firefox's Ui and way of doing things despite having fights with Flash from time to time.
