you don't have to buy it man its ok
btw you still have to download 7 gb
I kinda hate how they just added a 7gb demo to my Red Orchestra 2.
I would have preferred them to be separate.
7 extra gigs? Fuck that, I'm deleting RO2
They merged both even though they are separate games?
What the fuck, so people that don't own Rising Storm will just download 7gbs of useless shit?

If you only own RO2 you can still play on the RS levels if the server changes to them, but you can't play any other class then rifleman unless you buy it (You also can't earn levels)
The same thing also applies if you only own RS but not RO2, just in reverse (Rifleman only in RO2 levels, everything unlocked in RS)
It's actually a pretty ingenious way of handling expansions, just kind of a pain in the ass because both games are fucking huge for some reason.
Play now and enjoy playing as the japanese, where your team has no idea what the fuck it's doing at all and will just camp and die by flamethrowers.
It's balanced!

Set up in treeline, wait 'till flamethrower dude is shot, banzai, win.

You'd prolly be bitchin if you were playing HoS in a populated server and it switches to a RS map after the round is over only to find out you've been kicked because you don't own the expansion. Atleast Tripwire gives you the privilege to stay on the server and play even if you don't own RS.

Yeah it's great, it's annoying how people complain about downloading it though, when BF3 had it's expansions people cried because it split the community, now RS does it this way and people cry because "they didn't want it anyways so why do they need the files" when your basically getting an expansion with the best class for free.

If you complain about flamethrowers then either your bad or your team is bad, there is no other way around it if they sneak in and burn you, the Japs have so many tricks to their advantage that games can be won just by planting traps alone to slow them down long enough.
It's honestly really balanced for asymmetrical warfare

I don't understand why I would be "bitching"
If they were separate games, HoS would only play HoS maps, and RS would be RS maps.
Plus, it wouldn't be any different than the dozens of other games and how they handled the content system. There have been plenty of games that would kick you if you didn't own a dlc. Not kicking you is a kindness, I understand that, and appreciate it, and the new maps are honestly a fantastic addition, I honestly have no real complaints.
Despite what I would have preferred them to do, they didn't do it. I accepted it and moved on.
I don't feel the need to get petty or peeved by a developers choice to combine their two games, I just would have liked it personally if they hadn't.

Have you even played the game longer than five minutes?
It's perfectly balanced, the guy with the flamethrower is a humungous target that is very easy to hit, you actually have to use your brain when using him you can't just run up and spray everywhere with it.
Not to mention the Japanese have so much stuff to their advantage, I played yesterday and we did a huge banzai charge into the American positions on the jungle map and overran them, most fun I've had playing a game in a while.
I wonder if they added in any naval battles, because that shit was happening during WW2 in the pacific.

flamerthrowers can be sneaky when it comes down to it, just park yourself at a base that going to get invaded soon and when you start hearing the banzais and japs in the base, light them up... I've killed about 5-7 at the time before they naded me.
check your fuel when you over-consume, as you will end up depleting it quickly on long burst, fire in small burst is best as it takes about 2 seconds for an enemy to die from the flames and scream in agony.

It's an infantry combat game. However Commanders can call in naval bombardments on some maps.

I noticed, that's why i thought they may add in naval warfare in the future.
Doesn't really work with this sorta game.

I'd really like to know why. I can't think of anything particularly space consuming.

Ah I see, well considering half the time you'll have to play as a rifleman because the other slots are full it's not bad
this game get's frustrating hard sometimes. It's quite difficult to shoot a moving target with a springfield rifle for riflemen. however i did got lucky to score 4 kills by hitting them with the butt of the rifle until i somehow got mysteriously shot from the guy i was headbutting from behind.

You should've learnt by now, people are never fucking happy, Tripwire could've made the game be 500mb, use all the latest gear from the best engines but optimise it to run on a 486 without a graphics card and they would still cry.
For everyone saying the two should be separate fail to realize:
A series like RO, which has a very small, very niche audience compared to other big name FPS games, you absolutely have to combine the game and the expansion or else you'd end up dividing the community and in all likely hood you'd probably end up killing the original game in the process.
On launch day of RisingStorm there was only 3500 people playing. About 450 of that is the typical RO2 crowd that is always there.
Unless that number goes up for the weekend, I don't think you have to worry about RisingStorm splitting the community. Nobody has bought it. :v:
RO2 itself had around 15 thousand people on launch day. 3050 for Rising Storm is pathetic.
The thing about that is that the beta was still up.
Ah I see, well considering half the time you'll have to play as a rifleman because the other slots are full it's not bad
Rifleman is my favourite class. I got the most practice on him, and he's the most useful. He does attack and defense equally well, and works like a charm at all but the very closest ranges.
Yeah I never have to worry about getting my favorite class because my favorite is rifleman.
Buy it
I can't get into this game anymore, I end up getting too pissed off over everything in this game.
