I have an old Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.40GHZ and I am wanting to change to an Intel Core i5 3.2GHZ
Thing is, I have 0 knowledge on PCS.
Is this even possible?
If so, should I know anything before getting a new Processer

I don't even know how to replace processors. I'll probably look for a How-To on youtube or something.

They all fit the same right? Like Legos?

Just snap em on?
its a different socket, you will need to buy a new motherboard and most likely new ram.
Fuck.
All I needed to know for now. Thanks
Thats what is annoying about Intel, they don't have the compatibility like AMD. If you want to upgrade the CPU you have to upgrade the motherboard and RAM...

AMD only has compatibility between 2 sockets and am2+ and am3 which are the compatible ones use different ram (ddr2 and ddr3)

Yeah but the newer AM3 cpus work on older AM2 boards regardless of ram type.
You can't stick an i5 on even not so old LGA775 boards.
Well I can't name 1 line of processor which work on a different line in the future with Intel.

Sure you can.
Whether you want to break your motherboard and new CPU is a different story.
