I'll laugh at how the official logo for it was drawn by a 8 year old.
I'll be working to get decent grades for my A2s.
I wish I were British sometimes
I'm going to drink irresponsibly with my friends, woooo
Workind in the Historic Dockyard at Portsmouth for some festival type thing they're doing in celebration.
Australia doesn't get days off...
I'm going to get high for queen and country.
I will think about the queen a bit on that day.
Only care for the concert thing with Elton John, Robbie Williams and Paul McCartney.
I only care about the Queen when I get free things that I like.
it ends on my birthday
couldn't ask for a better present
60 years on the throne now?
Damn Lizzie, you durable!
I'm going to be spending the weekend doing what I usually do, since I really couldn't give a shit.
I don't give a fuck about her sitting on a chair for 60 years, I have to work on the Jubilee, and it's gonna be hella busy.
lazy old cow

except there are a fair few events that use kids drawings as their logos, because it's a nicer alternative than branding it as a big corporate event, it's free and it's a really nice thing for the kid that wins.

Uhh, I can't stand the monarchy but I do like the military parades that they put on.
I'll be too busy playing videogames to notice or care that this archaic leftover from the Medieval era is worth celebrating.
If they advertise Britain, the advertisement is probably:
Come to Britain! Land of rich, chinless former Germans!
Come see our castles and palaces! Then go home! You can't have them!
Your monetary contribution will almost offset the costs of keeping these Germans covered in beer and jewels!

Maybe you can ban a few more people making puns to make you feel better?
The monarchy brings in a fuckton of tourism, which pays for it all, so don't complain that it costs the taxpayer.
What a dumb country we to live in
Someone lives a life of luxury everything provided for 60 years lets celebrate.

It doesn't bring in tourism. The tourists come for the buildings, culture or the such. They don't come to see a bunch of nobles.
I'm going to ignore it as much as possible. Fuck tha monarchy!

More importantly, the profits of the land owned by the royal family go to the state and more than makes up for the cost of maintaining the monarchy.
Despite this, I still think it shouldn't exist.

I read or heard (I can't remember) that the buildings etc only have an appeal because its all real and current, unlike in countries that were formally monarchies where they aren't special in that way.
That said I think people would still come to see the stuff even if we weren't a monarchy any more.

The louvre in france sees more tourism than buckingham palace, and the french beheaded the occupants in the late 1700's. Coming here to see the royal family is like saying you visit Japan to see the emporer.
so much treason in this thread
Not really caring. It's half term for me anyway.
sweet a free day off.
going to get drunk with some hard-left socialists and listen to the fall
God damn high and mighty bitch. "Look at me everyone I can sit down for sixty years! Oh, and fuck the colonies, they get no days off. Especially Canada, it's not like I'm their head of state."

I have to work too.
I think having a Queen as head of state is fun though, and better than having a president. A sort of fairytale/soap opera - with jewels and nice frocks - instead of some dull politician in a suit.
