• Switching from iPhone to Android

I have an iPhone 4 and would like to try out an Android phone for the first time after my contract expires. The main reasons I haven't switched before is because most of my media is on iTunes (which sucks but whatever) and I can't fully decide on a phone. I've been looking at the Galaxy Nexus though, which looks really nice. Anyone who's switched from iPhone to Android have any thoughts? I've been pretty Apple-oriented for a long time and would like to switch.
The Nexus is a fine phone, but there's a lot of them that kick it's ass now. What network are you on?
What network are you on?
Verizon
The breakdown, as most will say, is that the Galaxy SII is universally the best phone available ATM. However, there are ones that can challenge that, like the new HTC One X. The Galaxy Note, too, is considered the king, but it's a bit of a niche product thanks to its size (if you're okay with a 5.3" screen, just go for the Note). [editline]5th April 2012[/editline]
Verizon
Ah, alright, that makes things a little difficult. The RAZR isn't that bad, but Motorola phones running Android have gone down hill since the original Droid. The Galaxy Nexus is the best one available on Verizon, but the Rezound and RAZR have been received pretty well. I can speak from experience, though, that the Nexus is pretty fantastic.
The transition generally won't be too difficult or frustrating. You will just find a lot more menu buttons and options.

I own a Rezound and I just called up HTC. The ICS update might not be April 6th (today), but the lady assured me that it WILL be this month. I ran my Rezound on that benchmark app and got around 5300 or something like that, which is right below the nexus. Personally, I find the rezound to be a great and reliable phone, and now that it's $49.99 in certain stores, that's a steal. The sound and picture quality is phenomenal and plus, they come with free beats earbuds if you happen to need a new pair. Plus, it is a 720x1280 display, which beats out the iPhone 4 and 4S. The phone is a bit bulky, and I personally do not like the stock HTC Sense launcher, but that can be changed with custom launchers in the store. Here's a video review if you're looking into it:
$50 for that? Looks like quite the bargain.
I have a Motorola Droid 3. Im quite pleased with it. Although there is practicably nothing compatible with it. Cyanogen mod for example, does not support it.
and now that it's $49.99 in certain stores, that's a steal.
Let me guess, it's $49.99* * With a 2-year contract.
Let me guess, it's $49.99* * With a 2-year contract.
Welcome to America
Such deals are worldwide, but it's not 49.99 if it's with a 2-year contract. My Blade was 117€
I switched from an iPhone 4 to the Motorola Atrix. I used to be able to do a lot of things on iOS, but it was much more convuluted than if I had Android. Now I went from the Motorola Atrix to Verizon with the Bionic, and finally to the Galaxy Nexus. Go into a Verizon store and play around with the phones, see which feels best in your hands.
Just went to Verizon for some hands-on testing, and I have to say that the Galaxy Nexus was by far my favorite. I'm not a big fan of HTC's UI, but I like Samsung's and Motorola's.

Get the HTC One X, amazing phone.
<3 my Galaxy Nexus. It's my phablet (at 240DPI, sometimes 280).
If there was a way to use USB host while connected to an HDMI monitor, I would jizz all over the place.
I have a galaxy nexus, which I'm absolutely loving - it's interface is running smooth as silk and I've maybe run into 1 bug in months of using it that was completely benign.

I can plug an external hard drive to a tablet (which has a USB port) and watch crap loads of HD Anime, all day and night. You can't do that with an iPad (strictly because it doesn't have a USB port)
i have been using desire hd after iphone 3gs and i may say that it's quite experience to be able to customize almost anything, now i am looking for htc x one and i would recommend you to take a look at it cause it's only quad core phone on the market at the moment and quite better than iphone 4gs
No problem with your iTunes songs, just upload them over to Google Music :) If you don't live in the US (like me) you can still get google music by using a proxy I got bored of my iPhone even though i jailbreaked it and all that stuff, i thin I changed from my iPhone 3G to my LG Optimus 2X june last year, i'm very happy with it. Fast, pretty cheap when i bought it and running ICS with CM9 smoothly. If you got bored of your iPhone, change phone it's easier than you think to get all your music and photos on your new phones. Though you have to say farewell to your old texts, apple doesn't allow anything else than iCloud to backup your texts with. And about the phone model, don't think about that it gets new ones almost every day so you can't really Good luck :)
I have a Motorola Droid 3. Im quite pleased with it. Although there is practicably nothing compatible with it. Cyanogen mod for example, does not support it.
You know there are CM7 and CM9 roms, right?
You can change your UI completely, even the OS itsself.
I'm in love with the Galaxy Nexus's pure ICS UI, which is the main reason I want it. How would you get that on a different phone, like an HTC? I've never heard of the ability to do that.
