Facepunch, I need some help. I have absolutely no idea how to set up my families new home theater system. My mom wants me to set this shit up but I have absolutely no clue how to do anything with it. I took a few pictures (they are more for just reference because no one in my family seems to have a good quality camera) of the backs of things like the TV and the switcher and the theater system in hopes that someone could have a clue as to what I need to do, and if I need any more cables. On to the pictures. [url=http://www.amazon.com/RCA-Theater-System-Black-28RTD980-29/dp/B00236NZOC]This is the home theater system[/url] This is the connections in the back. [img_thumb]http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/7557/1022337.jpg[/img_thumb] I have the speakers hooked up, and the PS3, Xbox, Cable, etc. hooked into the switcher. I just don't know what I need to hook into the DVD theater system box, the switcher, and the TV (I'm not the greatest when it comes to audio connections and such) Any help is greatly appreciated :buddy: I can take more pictures and try to get clearer pictures if need be (sorry again for the quality)
Plug in the switcher and everything as you normally would, to the TV, and use the TV's SPDIF out connected to the receiver's. I think it's the orange one on the receiver - the specs on Amazon for the system say it has Coaxial audio in. Pretty sure that will work, it's hard to see on the pictures. [editline]28th November 2010[/editline] Then disable the TV's speakers. [editline]28th November 2010[/editline] The yellow RCA cable should work for that, but it might not because it looks like it has crappy shielding and such, either switch it out for a better one from the things already hooked up, or go out and buy a Coaxial audio cable, or something. [editline]28th November 2010[/editline] What's the hole above the "SPDIF Out" say, on the TV? Is it just a 3.5 mm audio out?
update, please? Did you get it working? My method would be the highest possible sound quality, but there are other ways if it didn't work.
