These pictures apparently show the guts of a new model of the Xbox 360. The important bits? The fact that for the first time the console combines the CPU and the GPU in a single chip. Oh, and it's small.
The pic above shows the board in question, with the chip part of a rumoured redesign for the Xbox 360 console, testing of which has recently been completed in China. This isn't simply a new board for the existing hardware, either; it's reportedly a total redesign of the console. Think the PS3 Slim, only...for an Xbox 360.
Now, considering the source, there's every reason to be sceptical of the images, and the info. Then again, with Natal due later this year, rebooting the 360 itself to go along with it would make a lot of sense, especially if a reduction in size could come with a reduction in cost.

What's more interesting is that the original source of image was from the same source that leaked certain Xbox 360 internal images back in 2004 as well, which turned out to be genuine.
I reckon they let these things accidentally slip on purpose, good for marketing.
Yeah, there's always a "leak" of some sort from unknown sources, convenient, eh?
Smaller Xbox? That's cool
A small version of a console that is small enough.
How interestingly useless.

The source isn't anonymous/unknown
Sweet Cthulhu, that's a big cooling fan. Makes sense if it's a CPU/GPU combo, but there's going to be problems with ventilation.
There's always that one guy who leaks stuff.
If I ever become a developer or some shit, that will be me.
But does it fix the RRoD

That's pretty much the same as asking if the next windows won't have bluescreens.
PS3 slim was welcome because the original was fat as fuck. But if you put em side by side, 360 is about as big as a PS3 slim
Slim? Who cares about size when you got performance!
(that's what she said) :smug:
I have a feeling that the DVD drive is going to be a slot-action one like the PS3, due to the lack of symmetrical mounting holes for the original DVD drive, and the layout of the board

No, not really. bad analogy.

If you get caught, you would be fired and sued.
Not fun.

Have you heard the fucking noise the 360's fan makes?
I was hoping that the next iteration of of the 360 would have hardware with more power.
I'm curious if theres going to be cooling issues on the SLIM models like there was on the original. Heat sink issues, etc.
What size will it be? PS3 Slim sized or incredibly small, like the Wii?
omg copying ps3
That's stupid, the concept of a slimmer model has been around for a long time. PS2 Slim?
omg copying ps3
Go troll somewhere else.

Ty are cpoying Sony, that is shamish.
What size will it be? PS3 Slim sized or incredibly small, like the Wii?
The board there looks to be about 9"x9" to me, going by the size of the USB slots in the back and the fan. So I'm going to say probably a bit bigger than the Wii.

I was trying to recreate how it would look like if it was the Sony/PS3, doing something that other consoles already had done. Such as the PS3 Move thing.
Edit: Successful results! Not even 1 minute after that post and already 3 replies about it.

In case if you have been living in a cave for the past two years or so, the Jasper chipset revision (Released in late 2008) have practically solved the RRoD caused from intense heat already.
Uh how?
Sony created the PS3 Slim and it was extremely successful.
Now, Microsoft is already now in production to create a 360 Slim.
That's how.
Because cutting down the size totally means ripping off another product

It's a shame to see someone with nearly 8000 posts troll.
On the off chance you're not, the concept of having a smaller system with the same specs is not something Sony came up with, it's always been something to market. People like to buy smaller gadgets that take up less space. For example, LCD monitors vs. CRT monitors. Most of us like to have a bit of room on our desk.
