you're going to have to get an interface, like a line 6 box or some protools box. and ezdrummer or native instruments are your best bets for drums

There's a few free vsts with guitar effects simulators. If you're willing to spend a reasonable amount, you might be interested in Guitar Rig or Amplitube. [editline]26th February 2012[/editline] Whoops sorry didn't read.

For drums, try BFD, it's a fantastic plugin for drums
Just slice up the drums from old drumbreaks. Fun AND functional. I mean, it won't be the most realistic thing you've heard but when you get it down with some compression and reverb it usually sounds real nice.
I agree with Croix on the drum slicing. It's fun and you can get some great results by layering individual drum hits together to make new and 'modern' drum sounds.

I can make drums for you too if you want, I play ez drummer with electronic kit and I look for someone to make music together with.
Amplitube is perfectly awesome, great presets, effect pedals, you can modify pretty much everything to your liking. I also found out you can run your guitar straight to your PC with the amp out line to PC mic/headphone cable. Just hook it up to your guitar instead of the amp and to the PC, no amp fuzz, pure and clean sound. That plus amplitube...works wonders! As for FL, again, perfectly awesome. I am not a guitarist myself but do have a few lying around and have been able to record, mix, edit and add effects to the guitar in realtime. Also fairly easy to use, add other elements and modify to your liking, if you want i will be willing to help set stuff up.

M-Audio Fast Track is a decent starting Interface, same with those PODS. The POD x3 is a pretty good unit for its price, really flexible and one of the best modelers out there in its price range. As far as software, a good DAW to start with would be Reaper, it's free (for 40 days) and they sell it for individual licenses, so it only costs about 40$ to buy it. The free version is identical to the full, licensed copy, they don't hamper it, so you can learn a lot about it before buying it.

M-Audio's I/O stuff is pretty good stuff. A nice desktop audio station should work for everything and they're really not that expensive for guitar recording gear. FL Studio is pretty good at arranging recordings, I've used the Producer Edition for about a year now and it works fine for recording things.
