• Giving old laptop to old relative--need to wipe out everything

I'm really stupid for asking this but as usual I don't like screwing up with computers. Need to give an old laptop to my relative. It has Windows Vista 32 bit and I want to give her a fresh new laptop. I'll get her Word probably later but really all I need help with now is how to wipe a drive. Thanks in advance.
I'll find it give me a sec.
If it's a manufactured laptop (Of course it is), the manufacturer should have it's OS software on the computer or a separate disc that came with the laptop. Well I know Acer does that and HP has the OS partitioned on the HDD already.
Aagh I don't have it. I'll look for it later but is there anything I could do in the meantime? Is there anything I could do in the meantime since I don't have time too look for it right now?
Ubuntu Netbook Remix? :v:
Use an OEM Microsoft Windows installation disc instead of the manufacturer's one. Computer manufacturers usually cram their installation CDS full of useless bloatware, trialware and other junk that clogs up the system. It'll take some extra work to install the proper drivers, but it'll be much faster without the crap on it.
