Big Guy and Rusty, based on the Frank Miller/Geoff Darrow comic of the same name (which I STRONGLY recommend) was a cartoon on Fox Kids from 1999 to 2001. What was so great about it? Well, everything. Stellar fucking animation, good characters, wacky action, the works. WHAT'S THIS SHIT ABOUT? THE BIG GUY, Earth's first and last line of defense against all sorts of crazy threats, has become outmoded, thanks to the construction of RUSTY, THE BOY ROBOT, the most advanced nucleoprotonic super-robot ever. BUT! Poor Rusty's adolescent emotional matrix isn't ready for the responsibility of being the mighty defender of Earth, so The Big Guy is reactivated to show Rusty the ropes, and help him defend New Tronic City from the things that go BUMP in the night...or KABOOM in the day...or SQUEAK in the mid-afternoon. OH THAT'S PRETTY COOL. WHO'S THE CHARACTERS? WELL! There's RUSTY, THE BOY ROBOT! Sure, he may look like a hydrocephalic Astro Boy, but like I said, he's the MOST ADVANCED SUPER-ROBOT EVER!!! Too bad he's still a kid, and is relegated to sidekick status. But hey, he looks up to The Big Guy, so it's all good in the hood. ALSO THERE'S THE BIG GUY! (i couldnt find a picture from the show but here's the action figure) Formerly Earth's primary defender, BGY-11 isn't a robot at all! In fact, it's just a battlesuit for pilot LIEUTENANT DWAYNE HUNTER, who most people know as the mechanic, but he's also the pilot guy. Powered by a COBALT/THORIUM G POWER CORE, The Big Guy is still top dog in this crazy world of supervillains, super robots, and super aliens. THEN THERE'S SOME OTHER CHARACTERS BUT WHO CARES. ROBOTS ARE COOLER! AND THEN THERE'S THE BAD GUYS: LEGION EX MACHINA. Latin for "Many from the Machine", these guys are a bunch of dicks. You can tell they're evil because they're voiced by Clancy Brown (who voiced Lex Luthor and the evil aliens from Megas XLR). These six evil robots build other EVIL robots to do their bidding, and they hope to wipe out mankind and build an EVIL ROBOT "UTOPIA" with NO HUMANS. EEK! But there's a TWIST! They were built by the same guy who built The Big Guy in the first place! DUN DUN DUNNNNNN HERE'S THE THEME SONG AND STUFF I lied. Can't find it on Youtube. BUT EVEN BETTER: HERE'S THE ENTIRE FIRST EPISODE. I, personally don't remember it that well, but what I do remember? This show was great. Great great great great great. And I don't know if there's a DVD or anything...BUT! GUESS WHAT! I just found out that EVERY episode is on Youtube for your viewing pleasure. SO GET OUT THERE AND WATCH IT, PATRIOTS!
opened up this thread expecting exotic porn was dissapointed
that seems a silly thing to be expecting on a subforum dedicated to film and television...
Blew nostalgia juice everywhere. (Also you might want to pick a better image hosting sight. I can't see nothing.)
I've honestly never heard of this cartoon before :sigh:
hence the thread title! but yeah, its all on youtube, all 26 episodes. so get to it!
I've seen some of it. I know I've watched a few episodes, but the only one I remember is the one that they travel back in time to the American Revolution.
Nostalgia. I also had the comic book, which was pretty fucking graphic.
what did you expect? its frank miller. "graphic" is that guys raison d'etre
Considering that I was maybe 5 when I read it for the first time, I didn't really expect that. But still, the comic is awesome.
I think my dad has some of the comics put away in the garage somewhere.
I remember this, anyways. Boy robot looks kinda like Master Billy Quizboy.
