In an early-morning tweet, the president declared that he was “being investigated” for his decision to fire James B. Comey, the former F.B.I. director. And he appeared to accuse Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, of leading a “witch hunt.”

The tweet was the first explicit acknowledgment by the president that Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel for the Russia inquiry, had begun examining whether Mr. Trump’s firing of Mr. Comey last month was an attempt to obstruct the investigation. And Mr. Trump’s apparent reference to Mr. Rosenstein, who oversees the Russia investigation because Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from it, came just hours after an oddly worded statement from Mr. Rosenstein complaining about leaks in the case. In the statement, Mr. Rosenstein wrote, without further explanation, that “Americans should exercise caution before accepting as true any stories attributed to anonymous ‘officials,’ particularly when they do not identify the country — let alone the branch or agency of government — with which the alleged sources supposedly are affiliated.” The latest tweet came after a series of others in which Mr. Trump continued to complain about the Russia investigations swirling around him, and just hours after members of Congress from both parties gathered at a baseball field to call for unity after the shooting at a Republican baseball practice this week.
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/16/us/politics/trump-investigation-comey-russia.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=first-column-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news
WEW. Trump is definitely gonna fire Rosenstein.
WEW. Trump is definitely gonna fire Rosenstein.
History repeats itself.
and the continuous loop of trump supporters trying to prove that trump didnt do despite all the evidence just for trump to tweet that he did continues

So, is he investigating himself, then? 'Cause I seem to recall the white house requested the attorney general's office find an excuse for firing Comey shortly before it happened Have I misremembered?
Why did we let this dementia afflicted twat divide this country again. Like I'm 100% baffled.

He said he made his mind up before Rosenstein even told him to do anything.
Yeah holy shit he already forgot about the Lester Holt interview? :v: Doesn't surprise me.
Poor Trump has dementia. SAD!
I am starting to think Trump is a string theorist.. given the 26 dimensions in which he operates.
I am starting to think Trump is a string theorist.. given the 26 dimensions in which he operates.
It's just 26-dimensional Whack-A-Mole.
Who would have thought firing one man would be so complicated.
Poor Trump has dementia. SAD!
I find it difficult to really believe Trump has dementia, just because by most accounts this is the way he's always been. I think just plain narcissism is a lot more likely and it's difficult to really make a confident diagnosis because in Trump's case the two manifest so similarly
NPR said on the radio yesterday that Mueller cannot be directly fired by Trump, Trump has to ask the deputy of the FBI to fire him, which the deputy has stated "there is no cause to thus far". I wonder if the same holds true for trying to fire Rosenstein?
Who would have thought firing one man would be so complicated.
I still don't understand what his plan could have been in firing Comey. Did he think people would just move on from it and forget about it? Did he think the next FBI director would just magically stop the investigation?
I still don't understand what his plan could have been in firing Comey. Did he think people would just move on from it and forget about it? Did he think the next FBI director would just magically stop the investigation?
I think he thought since Comey wasn't liked on both sides that it wouldn't have been a problem to let him go.

Did he think the next FBI director would just magically stop the investigation?
Tinyhands has spent his entire life at the top of a corporate hierarchy where the boss' word is law and nobody wants to mess with the boss I'd stake good money on that being exactly what he thought would happen

He might have deluded himself into thinking that he was doing the public a favor:
Firing people comes natural to him. He never had to worry about the repercussions until now.
if trump just fires every government & security official, there won't be anyone left to investigate him! case closed, trumps wins again liberals!
Why did we let this dementia afflicted twat divide this country again. Like I'm 100% baffled.
jerbs.
Why did we let this dementia afflicted twat divide this country again. Like I'm 100% baffled.
Lie about bringing back money and jobs to enough desperate people and they'll vote for you. Also, there are plenty of like minded morons enough who'll support any stupid measure he takes, as long as the liberal and sjw tears flow like a waterfall. Don't forget that he said he was all for Americans having guns and was also in favor of cutting taxes (to the rich, but don't let his supporters hear you since what's mine is mine according to them)
why is the nytimes saying he acknowledges being investigated for Russian collusion? Isn't it very clear now after the Comey hearing that he's not? Where did they get that idea from Trumps tweet?
why is the nytimes saying he acknowledges being investigated for Russian collusion? Isn't it very clear now after the Comey hearing that he's not? Where did they get that idea from Trumps tweet?
Literally nowhere in the NYT article do they say that Trump acknowledges that he's being investigated for Russian collusion. They reference Trump's pressuring of officials to publicly announce that he wasn't under investigation, and they mention Trump's tweet denying collusion. That constitutes all three of the uses of the word "collusion" in the article posted in the OP.

You know Someone has a theory out there that this is a massive deception operation by Trump to push out the leakers, That he's going to come out of this fine. I'd kinda want this to be true, Just so we could stop attacking each other's throats. But I also agree sometimes Trump needs to keep his mouth shut. I do wan't Trump to be a good president, but his mouth (and twitter) may be hindering that.
I do wan't Trump to be a good president, but his mouth (and twitter) may be hindering that.
Don't forget his lacking moral integrity. That's kinda an important fact keeping him from being a good president. As is his level of competence.

Because that's exactly what he his.
