I currently own a macbook and a mac mini, but my current PC has a quad core, 4gb ram, etc..And i wanted a Mac pro but that's too expensive for a computer, So i planned on installing a patched copy of leopard onto this computer and upgrading with my disks because i own leopard and snow leopard, But every tutorial i've found said your CPU needs to be sse2 or sse3? well

as you can see it's just sse,Is this a problem, and can someone explain what this means?
What are your computer specs?

No, your CPU supports SSE, SSE2, SSE3, and SSE4A instruction sets
i wanted a Mac pro but that's too expensive for a computer
You should get a 30" iMac. It is an incredible value with a Core 2 Quad, as well as the amazing incredible unbelievably good monitor. For less than a half-decent Mac Pro.
there is no 30" iMac and there is no Mac with a Core 2 Quad.

you've helped me greatly, that's what i thought initially but i figured it would say sse2 etc not listing but i guess it saves on text space!
and my pc specs are:
AMD quad core 2.2GHz
4gb RAM
256mb ati radeon xt HD
2x500gb sata hard drives
Sorry i didn't get into specifics, kind of excited to get this mac running

*27" with Core i7
I always mix the i7 with the 2 Quad. And I mixed the monitor with the cinema display. In any case its still a great buy.
if you really need help on this go to the InsanelyMac forums.
i was following this guide:
http://osx86sv.wordpress.com/2010/02/12/how-install-osx-10-6-2-on-an-pc-asus-p5-series-motherboard/
seems simple and to the point
It's very irritating that OSX gives us Bootcamp and makes it easy for us to just install windows, but yet microsoft has to make it so difficult for us.
you need to make sure all your hardware is compatible, it's not that simple.
mind looking at it for me? tell me if its compatible, i can give you a dxdiag output
I haven't made a recent Hackintosh, but this may be a bit helpful: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

I think the last one I did was 10.5.0
Well, i've read most of that site, and i think im just going to try, all else fails ill just turn my PC back on and merge the partitions.

Microsoft is not involved into the process, it's Apple that added a crapload of hardware restrictions

uh, not sure what happened. I didn't have that issue.

If it's not too late, use this guide:

On the contrary, Microsoft has nothing to do with you installing OSX on a bog standard PC - It's Apple making it hard by making their OS hard to install on anything but their own hardware.
OSX on AMD is a bit more tricker IIRC
I'm going to be blunt here and say if you couldn't figure out that your CPU supported SSE 1 and above, you probably aren't cut out for installing OS X on an AMD machine
OSX on AMD is a bit more tricker IIRC
Not really, you just need to find the right patches.
Well now I'm interested in breaking something. Are there any guides on how to get the OS working on an AMD processor specifically? I need an excuse to run more than just Ubuntu. Current processor is a Phenom X4 9500. Supports SSE etc all that shit. Just about the only thing I'm really concerned about is my motherboard and my mouse/keyboard (I don't know if SL has default mouse drivers or not and I'm using Razer hardware here)
Additionally are there any major issues if you try to run the OS from USB? I was thinking of putting my 160 GB external to use.
Not really imperative since I'm not a big fan of Macs but hey, it'd be something neat to try. Last I remember, someone mentioned the OS being $30 or something like that, so it'd be easy to get a copy.
Im burning IDeneb right now, it seems like the way to go
Gonna get some more RAMizzle

mind showing me the guide you followed?
he has the 27" iMac with an i7, I don't see how what he posted is relevant...

and 0_omd don't buy RAM from Apple. get it from Crucial, never had a problem with them.
Never, ever buy RAM straight from Apple. You can easily get a mhz + DDRn match for far cheaper.
I buy RAM from Crucial, I got 4gb for my Aluminum MacBook cost $85 when I got it, now it's like $120 and a few tarts ago I got 2gb for my Intel iMac (White iMac from 2006) for much cheaper than What Apple was selling both types of RAM for.
[editline]10:18AM[/editline]
this thread is now about not buying RAM from Apple.
I'd love to buy some more RAM for my MBP, but I really can't afford £90 for 2x2GB sticks of DDR3 :(
