fuck you, misleading title made me think it came out today
That's an incredibly misleading title.
YES, 20USD FOR AN UPDATE!!! I LOVE YOU APPLE TAKE MY BABY TOO

What? Windows 8 is twice as expensive, and previous versions were several times more

If you're going to bash something because you don't like it at least do some research on it or try it out. You're probably one of those idiots that still think Macs can't right click.

Windows upgrades in a different way and is not hardware tied.
Mountain lion is more akin to windows seven SP1.
Windows updates don't really give new features, mac updates do.

Even though I'm not to fond of Apple...you bring up a good point. There really isn't an argument here. It is true.
Except that Windows actually UPGRADES the system by adding actual new features and tries to actually change the system
rather than adding support for facebook notifications

depends on the update - remember the SP pack which essentially brought the firewall and multiple other security features.
On top of that, Osx generally updates once a year, windows has a 3 year update cycle I believe. So when looking at the update price, you generally should look at multiple updates.

OS X hasn't started doing yearly updates until this year.
10.4 - 2005
10.5 - 2007
10.6 - 2009
10.7 - 2011
10.8 - 2012

Name one feature that SP1 added to Win7.

AKA nothing that anyone cares about.

And both of those updates cost money. Not to mention once they go to a new version, old versions are SOL on updates. Microsoft doesn't drop the ball on old OS versions and keeps them up to date far past the sale cycle.

pretty much every mac on the market that has a C2D or newer can upgrade to mountain lion, which is also a cheaper upgrade path than XP to Windows 7
comparing XP's LTS to the previous versions of OSX isn't really valid
