I have a dell inspiron 530 with vista home premium. Windows xp and windows 7 work fine on it. Is windows 2000 going to work or is it going to mess up things? And yes I partitioned my drive for 2000.
Why in the world do you want to install 2000? Good luck getting functional drivers for your hardware.
Only answer is try and see. Seeing how your computer isn't that old you might have a bitch of a time getting it to work properly.
Forget the part about the inspiron 530. I want to install it because I have a bunch of windows 2000 pc games. And I also have an old dell dimension E310. It has a chipset video card that works with them. Would that even work?
Most Win2k games play on Vistacular. Tried make this program compatible mode?
Most Win2k games play on Vistacular. Tried make this program compatible mode?
It worked with some, but most of them would not even work. Would vmware work for using 2000 and pc games?
some but you are running on virtual hardware so, UT99 @ 15fps
ok. Ill try vmware later on. But my oldest pc is the dimension e310 and its 3 years old. Would that thing even run it?
yeah VM ware will run but it is meant for running server processes, IE you can have one machine running Exchange, Sharepoint, AD, Apache, etc. if you want to test stuff out look into SUN openbox.

Old games might just work fine in it depending on hardware and configuration of the program of course.

You could try running them in XP. I very seldom have problems with old programs. Once again, it stems down to you being able to find drivers.

I looked for windows 2000 drivers for my old pc, and I already found them. So at this rate, Im just going to install it on my Dimension E310. Anything important I need to know before installing?
Upgrade to IE6.
I have never come across a windows 2000 game that didn't work on vista/7 and even then, there is usually a fix floating around.
