• Super, Turbo, Nitrous - which do you prefer?

Just wondering which of the 3 options would you choose to improve performance of a vehicle? and which one do you think is the best?
All depends on the application / cost For any street car a bit of nitrous will do fine in a straight line for minimal cost If you're looking for pure permanent power you turbocharge For lagless and consistent power you supercharge Prefer all-motor naturally aspirated motors myself because they make a great sound
If you are looking for the most efficient power adder, turbocharging is the way to go. Supercharging robs horsepower, and nitrous is for pussies. Not really, but nitrous really isn't a very good thing to do to an engine.

supercharger c:
Supercharger is better for engines with more torque. Turbo is better for engines with less torque. Nitros is for AZNs. That's what I've been told.
tarbo all the way.
Turbocharger, no doubt.
Superchargers and turbochargers both work for me, turbochargers are more fun though.
Anyone who picks nitrous is a dumb fuck.
Supercharger........Sexy noises
all of the above
I like to apply nitrous to my turbocharged supercharger.
I'm going to Oct-Turbo my four cylinder lancer and see what happens/
Turbocharging and supercharging is called twincharging. I saw someone take an old Eaton supercharger and mount it on a D16 (Honda Civic) block, pulling air through a GT35. It was a fucking beast, but they didn't check the oil pump when they put it together, bits of metal went into the journals and they lost all oil pressure, fried the thing before they even got to run it. And it was a dart-sleeved D16 block, a damn shame.
I'm not talking about adding both a turbo and super. I'm slapping eight turbos onto my Lancer without changing anything else at all. Not even the cooling. (not really, I'm poor.)
Technically could be done. You wouldn't build any boost anyways so you wouldn't have to change your cooling or anything : )
Anyone who picks nitrous is a dumb fuck.
I don't see why, I'm not a fan of nitrous either but iirc, it's basically just a chemical supercharger...So i don't see why that makes them a dumb fuck
I don't see why, I'm not a fan of nitrous either but iirc, it's basically just a chemical supercharger...So i don't see why that makes them a dumb fuck
>need to refill >big tank using up space >need to get the mixture right or your fucked >need to rig up a whole system to turn it on/off >one-time-only application
Hard decision.... Track fun = Turbo Street fun = Twin Screw or small twins All around fun = Centri Supercharger Cheap power = Nitroux.
>need to refill >big tank using up space >need to get the mixture right or your fucked >need to rig up a whole system to turn it on/off >one-time-only application
So because you need to know what you're doing and in general need to be pretty smart to use it, and it's harder and more complicated to use, you're a fucking idiot for using it? That doesn't make any sense in the slightest...Like i said, i don't like it either, mainly for the points you listed, and i personally prefer turbo myself, but i don't get it. Sure, it's maybe not the best choice in itself, but that doesn't mean the people doing it are stupid because of it..
Nitrous - Too many variables, need to refill, preconceived notions Supercharging - Extremely hard on the engine, specifically the belt system causing crank and/or cam wear depending on the engine, plus the inability to have true "on-the-fly" PSI changes Turbocharging - Most efficient and least stressful on the engine at similar power levels, Most versatile packaging requirements, Best sound (opinion), Best option for the most power

Supercharger....There is no better option.
turbo or nitrous w/ tune
uhhh
That might be the most beautiful noise ever to come out of a 4th gen Mustang..
Turbocharger all the way, the most efficient boost and I actually like a bit of turbo lag, kinda of anticipating the power and timing it just right out of the corners.

Adding to my comment: I'd take a twin screw KB or a Whipple supercharger on a Stang any damn day. I also wouldn't mind have a TT Cobra. I think Helion's Hellraiser kit would suit just fine. Mostly because I can leave a 2.9L Whipple and have fucking twin turbos. Compound boost bitches! [editline]15th October 2011[/editline] God damn I want an 03' Cobra :'(
