So here's my hardware: Linksys dual-band Wireless-N USB Adapter WUSB600N Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router 4 Port WRT54G Ver. 2 Motorola SB5101 Surfboard Cable Modem My internet runs pretty fast on my skeleton, at 1-2 bars. It rarely goes higher than that. My laptop however, is right next to my skeleton and it gets 4-5 bars. I'm fine with the weak connection because it's rather fast. But sometimes the skeleton gets reception, but cannot load anything from the web. I run troubleshoot and this problem comes up: "The connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the internet is broken." This is an old post that I wrote the when I built my skeleton, it's from another forum. Yeah, so it was stable for like.. 5 months or so, and now it's doing bad again. Any ideas?
Bump.
Quick google suggests that a bunch of people are getting problems with signal strength with that particular wireless NIC. So first thing would be to try a different adaptor if possible. If you don't have another adaptor can you give us a bit more details about the software variables? Which Windows version are you running and which drivers are you running for the NIC? I saw that quite a few people saw substantial improvements on Windows 7 with the new drives for that card. If that's applicable to your scenario I suggest you try and get those new drivers too.
Actually.. all I did was put my computer to sleep, wake it up by unplugging the adapter, and it was fixed. This rarely happens but can be annoying, thanks anyway.
