Basically despite having parents who live in Europe for the last three years, and being there four months every year at that, and being only four hours away from it, I still haven't seen Paris. I've been to pretty much every other major European city/tourist trap otherwise. Reason I post this here is because, well, Facepunch, you are the world in your own special, quasi-retarded e-ways, so I'm sure a few of you guys have been and have tips and the like. What I'm asking for is decent hotel locations (Definitely 1 star only) that put me relatively close to the action without having to constantly take the subway or walk excruciatingly far every day. Also, speaking of the subway, is that shit free or no? Also, we all know the famous sights. Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Notre-Dame, Bastille, etc., but are there some other, very lesser known sights that should be peeked at when one has the time? I'm not worried about my French, I speak fluent Quebecois. They'll hate my accent, but fuck 'em, gotta treat guests with respect. P.S. I am doing my own research so its not that I'm lazy, so much as more people doing their own research can open up a lot of cool shit.
The Musee De L'Armee and Les Invalides (sp?) is brilliant. Great way to spend a day. Also, the Sewer Museum is great fun.
If shit gets bad. Liam Neeson will save you
Thank God, too, I've studied every nuance of his face, mannerisms, speech, accent, and actions. I won't be fooled by a fake Neeson.
Auberge International de Jeunes, might have misspelled it, stayed there for a week, basic, you get a shower and a bed on a bunk, And some bread and a cup of a hot drink in the morning. Good place to land in at half one in the morning, near a Monoprix supermarket for frugal eating, Also near Ledru-Rollin, which, if you had down the wrong direction up the no entry bit, can be jumped quite easily, must have done so twenty or so times without being caught, so free travel is good. Places I'd recommend, do the obvious things, go to monmatre, take part in the party that seems to go on there night after night. If you're feeling cultured, go to Shakespeare and Co, an English bookshop, has texts from two hundred years ago you can head upstairs and read, not to mention is sells the books downstairs, there's frequent talks by authors there, and I understand it was frequented by James Joyce. Places to wander, take note of the Latin Quarter, it's full of sunny streets with nobody walking along them, odd little public parks tucked between buildings, people just chilling and enjoying life. Also worth heading to, the Jewish Quarter, or district anyway, it's not too easy to tell when you're there, but you should be able to tell, it's full of little Boulangeries and shops and things selling baclava, and other nice stuff. The Jewish Quarter is mostly in and around Bastille. It's up to you, but if you feel like a nice walk, try walking from the Louvre up the the Arc de Triomphe, It's about a mile or a bit more, but can be enjoyable, but for the road crossing. I can't think of anything else right now.

Cool! I wish I could visit Paris :/ Make sure you don't follow freaky-looking girls over there... you could end up in some abandoned church full of Werewolves! It's funny all the stereotypes you get from people who've never been to paris, it's a really nice place.

At $11 a room though, who can argue.
Also near Ledru-Rollin, which, if you had down the wrong direction up the no entry bit, can be jumped quite easily, must have done so twenty or so times without being caught, so free travel is good.
Are the tickets 24/hours or is it one trip only? Also, I'm trying to find the price, but every site I find gives me the fine price, not the ticket price. Besides, so far as I've heard from most everyone else, if you're good for walking, most can apparently cover one end of the city to the next in about two hours of good march. I should be fine without it, but if I end up getting late in the day or something, its nice to have a useable alternative.
Scaré coeur in the evening may be worth a visit. During my stay in paris jongleurs and musicians played there for free and you have an excellent view on Paris. Furthermore free weed if you're lucky! Take a walk along the boulevard de clichy at nigth or in the evening. It's great! I suggest that you use the metro system. If you stay for atleast a week you may want to get a carte d'orange.

Check out The Musée d'Orsay

You used "2" in the title. :what: It is Facepunch you know. Anyway, hope you enjoy yourself however, BE. CAREFUL. WHAT. ROAD. YOU. DRIVE. ON. If you go on the wrong road you can seriously get fucked.
I've been there, it's boring.
When I was In London I wanted to go to Paris, but it was about £120 to go one way.

Tickets are used to gain entry to the metro, once you're on you no longer need them, just put them in a bin. Yeah, you can walk the length of paris in a day, I did it while I was there. Hmm. As for free weed, Scare Cœur is worthwhile a place for that, I bought a little from a random bloke who was smoking some, shared his for a bit, made out with a random girl, bought some, shared with the girl. God I felt manly.

Not driving anywhere so oh well.
Whoa... is Paris really that dangerous? :/
No, they just have a lot of really narrow streets.
you speak Quebecois? they'll be nicer to you if you speak English
Yeah but they can go fuck a croissant 'cause thats the way its gonna be.
good luck getting served anywhere when they turn their noses up in disgust tbh
good luck getting served anywhere when they turn their noses up in disgust tbh
Agreed. There is no asshole quite like a French asshole.
Oh boy it'll be fun times by all.
Agreed. There is no asshole quite like a French asshole.
Everyone was nice to us in Paris, then again we aren't French Canadian.
Some French people have this weird stereotype that all Americans are pompous assholes who roll around in leather jackets and sunglasses and spiky hair regardless of the weather. They obviously don't own mirrors.
