http://www.macrumors.com/2015/09/16/apple-releases-ios-9/
Apple today released iOS 9 to the public, making the download available to all users who have an iPhone 4s or later, iPad 2 or later, 5th-generation iPod touch or later, or any iPad mini. The update can be downloaded through iTunes or over-the-air by going to the Settings app and tapping General --> Software Update. As with all major software updates, it may take a few minutes for the update to propagate to all users due to high demand. Some users are seeing "Software Update Failed" messages and may have better luck installing via iTunes. Public beta testers who have the iOS 9 golden master installed will receive the release version of iOS 9 over-the-air.
Nein! Can't believe it's still compatible with iPhone 4. Usually Apple being the "forward moving" company that they are drop support for a system that old after 5 years. [editline]16th September 2015[/editline] Oh wait does that say "4S"?

Messed up the quote there [editline]16th September 2015[/editline] oh nvm [editline]16th September 2015[/editline] How was it a disgrace? I moved off of iPhone 4 before the end of the lifespan
For the record, I'm on beta and only got an update to 9.1b1 [editline]16th September 2015[/editline] MY MERGE

I moved off of iPhone 4 before the end of the lifespan
7.x really shouldn't have been on the 4 Lag, no new functions sans control center, poor performance and battery life all around [editline]16th September 2015[/editline] NOT AGAIN
Ran like crap on the iPhone 4. But then again, it had old hardware so I can't blame it.
Pretty much the norm for Apple's shitty end-of-term support. I remember how much I and other original model adopters suffered when iOS 3 was released for iPod and iPhone 1. I just wish Apple could let backwards compatibility be a thing but they really push devs to develop for newer stuff only.
IMO this was unnecessary for iPad 2 since it gets none of the big iOS 9 features AFAIK.
IMO this was unnecessary for iPad 2 since it gets none of the big iOS 9 features AFAIK.
performance boosts

Will this actually do anything for me and my 5S or will it just make things more buggy and unresponsive like previous updates have?
This came at the perfect time; I JUST switched from an Android phone to an iPhone, so I can use that Move To iOS feature.
performance boosts
Actually it's a slight performance downgrade on iPad 2.

It turned my iPhone 6 into a slow, unstable piece of shit. Multitasker animations snapping, app launch delay, control centre fps lag... the only thing that actually improved slightly was Safari tab switching.
i bought an iphone 5s recently and i'm wondering if it's worth updating to this it's my first time owning a smartphone that wasn't an absolute pile of wank for a fair few years so i'm already pretty chuffed with having a consistent framerate just on the home screen and shit, i'm wondering if iOS 9 would bugger up my performance at all i noticed my old ipod 4g just got slower and slower by each update and i fear the same happening to my iphone
:snip:
And I'm not going to care about it until taig or something have managed to jailbreak it.
Massive speed boost on my work iPhone 6 However still waiting for a jailbreak till i upgrade it on my own iPhone 6.
lol i still haven't bothered to update from ios 6 maybe i should get around to it some day
It seems alright, the battery life seems improved on my iPad mini 2 and the ability to search in settings is great. Picture in picture is great, I can't wait for more apps to support it. Not a huge fan of the new multitasking, performance doesn't seem great and it looks kind of weird. Maybe it's because aim used to the Lolipop app switching, I'm sure I'll get used to it. Hopefully the performance improves with 9.1.
Updating once it's jailbroken.. Is it pretty?
It's pretty much the same as iOS8, but a few things I've noticed are: 1. Multi tasking isn't side-by-side, but instead apps are behind other apps. 2. Siri is a bit prettier. 3. If you get a text and you press on the notification, you'll see a "Return to <app>" button in place of "<bars> <carrier> <3g/lte/edge/4G>" That's pretty much all I've seen so far, other than a few more Apple apps.
multitasking goes side by side on iPad.
Installed it on my iPhone 4s. Huge performance hit, it seems to slow down with every app start-up, app switch or even just sometimes swiping left and right. Already froze 4 times.
