Watch Dogs fiasco 2.0
Watch Dogs fiasco 2.0
I don't see the resemblance really. Other than some maybe minor graphical downgrade here but that's just how game development work.
I see it more as people are getting super hyped for no reason over a game that's basically Destiny but a tps.
If you can't see the reason, that's fine, but don't start saying that there isn't one. Do you really think people are excited for literally no reason?
i remember being hyped for this
I see it more as people are getting super hyped for no reason over a game that's basically Destiny but a tps.
That sounds like something word getting hyped over to me. This seems like a really good open world shooter RPG hybrid with a lot of interesting stuff going on. [editline]12th January 2016[/editline]
The initial reveal showed some cool tech and a promising engine. Other than that we got some bog-standard TPS gameplay from everything shown so far, with all sorts of little grinds and RPG elements to keep people hooked.
The initial reveal showed pretty standard TPS gameplay too though. And I don't really see why that's even a bad thing, that kind of gameplay works just fine if done well.
i think it looks kinda fun i won't buy it right away, but i'll probably get it eventually
I'm not saying it looks bad, but people are expecting the world out of a game that will very likely stick to what works and not really break much ground. I'm still prob gonna get it but I don't get why people are so incredibly hyped for this yet they are immediately dismissive of any other Ubisoft game.
Why does a game need to break new ground to be worth some excitement? Who are these people you are talking about that all have the same opinion?
I'm not saying it looks bad, but people are expecting the world out of a game that will very likely stick to what works and not really break much ground. I'm still prob gonna get it but I don't get why people are so incredibly hyped for this yet they are immediately dismissive of any other Ubisoft game.
People aren't expecting the world out of the game, people are expecting exactly what you said it is. A mostly standard game that just combines elements of genres that haven't really been done before and thus will provide a fairly unique experience for people who want that kind of experience. Like me.
People like the first poster claiming it's going to be another Watch Dogs because ???
What? Sparkdog's post is a criticism of the game, not hype.
Why does a game need to break new ground to be worth some excitement? Who are these people you are talking about that all have the same opinion?
Because some people are aware what companies like Ubisoft are capable to ruin a game. And those who are not consumer aware always has the same opinion over a product, because they only listen to each other and form an opinion from it. There's a chance that the game will be great, but their's also a chance it won't considering their marketing history. I won't buy this no matter the results, because I will not support this company for what it has done.
Shit, this isn't going to be like Destiny where there's a hub, then a load screen to a larger open area where you see a handful of people tops to do boring quests, is it I won't mind that IF there's stuff to do, always, Solo and with a group, but I really don't want Third Person Destiny in New York
I was honestly never that into The Division. It looked kinda cool when they first showed it, but I had no expectations. But now, after playing Destiny and actually really enjoying it, I'm kinda looking forward to this, too. Not that I'm hyping it up, just something to pass the time while waiting for the better games to come.

looks generic
looks generic
That would imply there are a lot of other games that are like it. There aren't.
it looks alright. I like the idea behind it but its also ubisoft. so its bound to be feature limited and/or buggy as shit at release.
This one is actually completely open world and it seems like all the hubs and shit will be seamless.
That's quite a lot of claims you're making there. Care to back it up with a source? AFAIK we know literally nothing about the game's 'open world'-ness nor instances, except the standard HYPE crowd going off on a tangent and fantasizing about everything being perfect like in their daydreams. But that doesn't really count.

And since they have "safehouses" where you group with people and stuff, I would imagine that will work the same way, otherwise they would have just had a menu.

If it's literally in-game footage of some guy passing an invisible border and then they somehow prove you're seamlessly connected to x other players, I'll believe it. Otherwise I'll chalk it up to creative video editing. I'm going to be vastly dissapointed if this is just an average sized New York where it's nothing but grindy PVE with up to 4 players in total in our own private instance and then only a single area where I can shoot up to like 2 or 3 other groups of players. So far I haven't really seen anything that points to the contrary.

But the rest is just what the game is, you can freeroam around the main map, do missions in co-op or solo, then you go to a separate area where you get connected to other players who you can fight if you want. What else were you expecting?
The hologram maps, the first acted gameplay trailer showed one of the players deciding between an open tunnel and the police station, the one where they come out of the subway is surrounded by open roads to take.
Yeah, and? There's nothing saying that's not in the game. The hologram maps are definitely still in at least.
I don't like how bullet spongey the enemies are.
I'm not saying it looks bad, but people are expecting the world out of a game that will very likely stick to what works and not really break much ground. If they're not burned yet from every other burn hype from videogames there is no saving them.
Yeah, and? There's nothing saying that's not in the game. The hologram maps are definitely still in at least.
Precisely, these are elements that indicate an open world and no evidence has come to light saying they won't be in the game. Therefore we can assume the game is open world.

I'm just very excited to get dug into this games world. It looks very atmospheric. It's kinda the same reason as I was hyped for Fallout 4 despite not enjoying that type of gameplay much. I really enjoy the exploration of fallen worlds like this.
i remember being hyped for this
Yeah me too. About 2-3 years ago. This game is going to bomb hard.
And I'm pretty sure they said the game is open world. [editline]14th January 2016[/editline] What was your point again?
Excuse me, what is your point? Read the original post I replied to and look at what my opinion actually is. It seems like you are disagreeing with someone on your side.
