Bill to temporarily fund Homeland Security does not pass The House of Representatives, DHS to run ou

Washington (CNN)A Washington fight over immigration is poised to cut off funding for the Department of Homeland Security and leave border agents, TSA screeners and tens of thousands of other federal workers charged with keeping the homeland safe on the job without pay until Congress gets its act together.
DHS moved closer to running out of money Friday after the House rejected a bill that would have kept the agency open for three more weeks. Unless another deal is reached by midnight, DHS will fall into a partial shutdown.
But when the legislation came to the floor, dozens of Republicans voted against it because the legislation doesn't address President Barack Obama's immigration orders. They were joined by nearly all Democrats, who opposed the measure because it doesn't keep DHS open through the end of the fiscal year.

Republicans shutting down the government funds, again, because they can't force in bullshit, again.

The fuck does that have to do with DHS?

Well, that's what happens when you vote people into government who hate government.
Shutting down the government for not deporting enough people even though this administration has set deportation records every year. Republican logic, ladies and gentlemen.
fuck the DHS. Worst thing to happen to America in a long time. The reason that the DHS is being shut down is stupid as fuck, but still.
I doubt the TSA are going to quit when they get free boob and ass all day.
DHS workers ought to just walk off the job. Fuck working without pay. And maybe a sudden lack of the people patrolling the borders and keeping the system running will get Americans angry enough to put the Republican party down like the rabid dog it is and open the way for new parties.

What parties
this is America, home the the brave and "you're either with us or against us"
Between this and Americas first mentally retarded senator from Oklahomastan bringing a snowball onto the floor of the senate like it was some kind of against climate change I have no idea what to think anymore.
You can't govern with these kinds of people. Nothing good is going to come out of anything Republicans, Tea Party supporters, or American Conservatives do. Nothing, literally nothing they do will be a net positive for the United States or the world. Democrats aren't perfect by a long shot but jesus christ at least they don't win elections off shit like deporting children, or trying to take away healthcare coverage from millions of people.
Fuck the Republican party.

I'm confused by this paragraph. Are the democrats opposing the bill or opposing the people who are opposing the bill?
A CNN poll last week found 53% of Americans would blame Republicans in Congress if the department shuts down, while 30% would blame Obama. Another 13% said both would deserve the blame.
A CNN poll last week found 30% of Americans are retarded and have no idea how their own government works. (real figure is probably higher)

Well technically they could argue that Obama's executive order to pardon the immigrants is why the bill is being held up.

It sounds like the Democrats opposed the bill because they don't want to fund it for 3 weeks while they continue negotiating for more funding, they want it funded for the whole fiscal year instead of letting Republicans use DHS as a hostage.

Gotta admit, I'm not too heartbroken over the idea of DHS eating a funding cut.

That's entirely the point. The Republican party does not represent the interests of the public. They do not represent the interests of their greater constituency. Their very foundation is to represent the corporate sector, to allow for greater freedom for businesses, lower taxes for industry, etc. None of this benefits the general population.
Which is why it's so very strange that their strongest constituency is the middle class. The party does nothing for them, but their "temporary embarrassed millionaires" mindset keeps them voting for a party that doesn't care about them.
Congress, Children in positions where adults should be.
The fuck does that have to do with DHS?
The house passed a bill with language preventing immigration action by Obama and thats what started this whole mess because the senate would not pass it. The house tried a passing a clean version
It's like the Republican party wants the United States to burn. How very un-American
As long as it burns with a Democrat as president to serve as a scapegoat they don't care.
It's basically because Boehner can't control the house. he has 3 parties to worry about. his own, the tea party, and the democrats.
He just can't control the tea party. That's why the senate always passes stuff and the house always fucks it up.
The fuck does that have to do with DHS?
This is actually the one time where I don't think the Republicans are being as big of dickholes as they usually are.
Correct me if I'm wrong but DHS covers border patrol and immigration... so it is related.

Except Fox News will spin it into something that's somehow entirely Obama's fault.
"See! Do you see it now, America?! Obama's slack immigration policies have given us not only measles, but yet ANOTHER government shut-down that will result in thousands of people losing their jobs!"
The shit are you guys complaining about? Hell, I'm fine with letting the DHS lose a bit of money.
UPDATE: The House just passed a bill to fund the DHS for seven days.

Fox News is a dinosaur. Nobody who watches it and takes it seriously is considered entirely rational by most Americans and most non-Americans, and the GOP's politicians in the USA are the laughing stock of the entire civilized world.
So basically, my understanding is that Obama did some shit, and so the GOP (Republican party) is trying to block that shit from going down by not funding it with the cyclical funding for the department comes up again - as in, passing a bill to keep the department funded. The GOP wants to block that shit because it didn't contain the stuff about stopping Obama from doing shit, and I'm pretty sure the Democrats don't want that shit blocked, AND the bill they proposed didn't last until the end of the year, so the Democrats blocked the bill too.
TL;DR: Republicans: mad at Obama. Democrats: Let's just make sure shit works. Obama: IDGAF.

The DHS also runs the Coast Guard and FEMA, which receive the majority of its funding.
Well my mom won't be getting paid it seems :(

a sudden lack of people patrolling the borders would most likely result in increased illegal immigration and other, more severe criminal activity, not to mention all the other stuff that's under them.
I know people love to think US government agencies are just budget that could go to NASA instead but the DHS is pretty important. And you've also gotta remember that salaries are a huge chunk of the budget they get, that'd be a quarter of a million people with no salary all of a sudden.
People in this thread have absolutely no idea what the DHS does if they're cheering for its destruction.
It'd be like somebody advocating political reform celebrating if the government dissolved.

Uhh, many at my school swear by Fox News, students and teachers. I think you're underestimating rural towns.
I had a history teachers call me over and ask me how to have a news site instead of yahoo news bookmarked because he wanted to read something "a little less bias". I made the mistake of suggesting CNN, and he said "No no none of that crap, I mean fox news!"
