I went out and bought broken steel expansion, now I needed to update the game. So I tried patch 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7 and they all gave me a "fallout 3 has stopped responding" bullshit. And the game crashes. The only things i have installed in it is effective weapons mod, and broken steel. Anyone got any solutions? And yes, I own a store bought copy of fallout 3. Specs.... But i dont know if I want to take that risk.

You could also try running it in virtual XP or as Administrator to see if those work. And I'm very happy to hear that the 3100 runs it. I have a 3100 too and I've been wanting to try the game. I think I'll go buy it tonight.
I also have Windows 7 x64 Already e-mailed Bethesda about it. Their response:
Please note that the program is not tested or supported in Windows 7. You *may* be able to run the program using compatibility mode in Windows 7, but we cannot guarantee the program will function properly in this new operating system. Program compatibility is a mode in Windows that lets you run programs written for earlier versions of Windows. Most programs written for Windows XP also work in this version of Windows, but some older programs might run poorly or not run at all. If an older program doesn't run correctly, start the Program Compatibility Wizard to simulate earlier versions of Windows. To change compatibility settings for a program: NOTE: Do not use the Program Compatibility Wizard on older antivirus programs, disk utilities, or other system programs, because it might cause data loss or create a security risk. NOTE: If the Compatibility options are grayed out, then it is a 64 bit program and cannot be changed. 1. Right-click the icon for the program. 2. Click Properties. 3. Click the Compatibility tab. 4. Check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode". 5. Choose the version of Windows the program was made for. For best compatibility, choose the latest Windows version the program was written for. Check the system requirements for the program if you are not sure. 6. It may also be necessary to check the box for "Run this program as an administrator." 7. Click Apply and OK.
So :/

Still crashing...It gives me the sound of the menu starting, and like one click then it crashes and gives the the error. So I emailed the people about fallout 3 and they said that since it has been released before windows 7 some functions will not work to what they were designed to do.
I installed XP x86 pro. And now it says 'cannot find dynamic link library in Xlive.dll'.
Re-install Games for Windows - LIVE.
Problem resolved. I went back to XP, now im using patch 1.7. And everything works fine again.
Virtual XP has to be downloaded from the Microsoft site, for anyone who finds this thread for that reason.
