• What are good jobs to get as part-time? (UK)

I'm coming up 13 soon and I'd like to get a work permit. (Cry about it). And I want to know what types of jobs I can get. So anyway were like only allowed to work 5 hours every Saturday during school terms. So I'd like to know if anyone else got a part time job at 13 or so, and is the pay any good for 5 hours work?
You can't get a job at 13 Apart from a personal lawn mowing license
When you're 13 the pay is never gonna be very good. Also being a shop assistant is a relatively normal part time job for a young whippersnapper of your age.
paper boy
OP is 12 :cawg:
You can't get a job at 13 Apart from a personal lawn mowing license
Thanks for the completely useful reply. You can in the united kingdom, you need a work permit and are required by law only to work 5 hours on Saturdays. Thanks for reading the OP. Also well done to Smurfy who can successfully read!
I'm pretty sure you can't. Anyway, no one wants to employ a 16 year old, nevermind a 13 year old.
Qualified people are struggling to get a job right now, a 13 year old has no chance.
Under 13? The Children and Young Persons Act says that you must be at least 13 to have a job. 13 or 14? You can work a for up to five hours a day on Saturdays and school holidays. You must not work for more than 25 hours a week.
OP was 9 when he joined FP
The OP fails because no one can get a job right now.
I've nearly 16 and applied for 7 different positions for when i turn 16 and got rejected from them all. Have fun trying yourself.
I've applied for loads of places and got denied also. Guess I'll just have to keep my shitty job.
OP was 9 when he joined FP
You can do math too?
Paper Boy. I doubt you can get a job anywhere decent at your age. I'm 16 and trying fucking hard to get a part time job and failing. I may be getting one a GAME soon but that's just for Christmas. :(
Sorry OP, the chances of you getting a proper paying part time job is minuscule. You could get a job sweeping up hair in hairdressers or stacking shelves in some places. Also a news round is always an option.
OP was 9 when he joined FP
how could he reach the keyboard
its like a driving joke, cmon
Don't see the similarities..?
At 13 you can get a paper-round. That's it. You can't get shop work until you're 16, and because of all the 16yr olds with GCSE's, or adults with more education and experience, employers prefer to go for them for jobs that they'll consider 13 year olds for, especially as the money can help support them through college, or support a family. I have work in a shop, but it's pretty quiet so i only really drink coffee. Also, there is no such thing as a "Work Permit" if you legally live in the UK. And work is scarce at the moment because of this recession. And a lot of companies can't be arsed to take out the insurance needed to employ under 16's when there are plenty of over 16's looking for work.
Dude, people with College degrees with High work experience have a hard time finding jobs right now. Who in the hell would hire a 13-year old who can and will only work for five hours on a weekend? They don't make good gofers, they get tired quick, they don't have much physical strength, they aren't good for business, they're lazy, they aren't as smart as adults, and they have no experience whatsoever.
Why get a work permit? No one gets them. You don't exactly need one. Wait until you get your national insurance card. Become a waiter, do sticking up, wash cars, mow lawns or make and film porn videos and sell cheap on ebay.
Suicide Booth Operator. But seriously, child labor laws much?
What you could do Is cut grass and stuff for extremely low prices.
Sell all your old games and shit on ebay. That made me a lot. Also, not sure if it is just where I live but a 13 year old mowing lawns for money isn't normal in the UK.
If you were a little older, you could get a job as an Xbox 360 Representative... pretty laid back job and super cool, the best I've ever had so far :P

Hey what a coincidence I am 12 aswell! Wanna meet up somewhere and look for a job together. My father will pick us up in his van.
Oh god. I'm 12 too :saddowns: And I don't give a fuck about getting a job at the moment, sell some shit or wait till christmas if you need money. You wont get a good job.
