Well it's overall good, and you can always copy and paste to Facebook if you care so much.
Basicly all evil corporations do this so google has to do it too to stay with the competition.

I've been using Google Reader for at least 2 years and I've never actually used any of the sharing features. I'm looking forward to the update.

What's wrong with integrating reader with google+
The sharing features are optional now so I don't see why they wouldn't be optional after the change.
