• Why isn't this subfourm more active?

I am not trying to make a QQ thread or anything, I was just woundering: Why is this Fourm not as popular as all of the other fourms? This is my favorite part of this forum in general, but there are only a few active threads that are going consistently. Whats up with that? Now that I have said that, what are the things people like to build the most? whether it is things in there shops to gardens in your back yard.
I would be doing so much awesome shit and post it here if I could afford it but without a job, or much chances at getting one, that's kinda hard to do
There are things people can do with very little money, I have seen it in these fourms before I would love to see more.
Everything costs an arm and a leg in Norway :v:
Aww man, thats lame.
There are things people can do with very little money, I have seen it in these fourms before I would love to see more.
I agree with this, I have very little income yet I stay busy with woodworking projects using very basic traditional handtools, lumber costs very little or nothing if you live in a wooded area.
Come on guys lets not down ourselves with costly project material, lets come up with some good ideas. Peoples ideas make my day.
because we're lazy
I really like woodworking so I should maybe get some basic woodworking tools and make neat boxes and shit
Because of lack of money, spare time and tools + work area. Besides, most things I do have some sort of relevance to either Automotive Addicts or Electrical Engineering, so it end up being posted there instead. To me, Maker Mates is a umbrella subforum for everything that doesn't already have a subforum or a megathread dedicated to it.
Trying to get a job this winter so maybe I'll do some shit when I get money. Only real project I got on the way is resoldering my phone charger
I make things every single day, but the company I work for would frown if I posted every single one - Which is a shame because I would love to show you guys some of my cool carpentry projects. I also do custom sign works, and have made magic tricks now as well (the big complex stage engineered tricks). I also make little things I feel no one would care about, so I am scarce in the DIY section again. I'll get back into it. ALso a lot of the DIY stuff I've done is automotive lately, so it goes in AA. I also need to finish a bunch of projects. I think next I'll get back on making my 1950's swamp cooler.
I didn't post much because I never had vast amounts of money to make things with. Now I have a job, I don't have vast amounts of time and making cool shit plays second fiddle to mountaineering when I do engineering for a day job.
It involves people doing something
I don't post much anymore because of school. Even though I'm building stuff, it's not particularly interesting right now. Lots of playing with concrete.
I'm trying to get more active in here, but between work and life it's hard to do anything on Facepunch as much as I used to. Though now I have my 3d printer going, I've been doing my best at keeping FP in the loop, which helps this subforum somewhat.
why do none of you have jobs wtf
Lots of highschool/college students don't need jobs due to good fortune or piles of debt. I for one am self employed and run my own 3D studio while being a full time student.
I have a job. I climb a 100ft structure and repair all the wood on it for a multi-million dollar world-wide company. Can't say what though. And I run carpentry projects off the ground, and restore antique boats. No real time for DIY stuff right now. I build stuff on my lunch breaks on occasion.
It's not very active because it's in the bottom right corner of the forum index screen, most people probably never even notice it. Plus a lot of things that might go in here tend to end up in their specific sections. There's an electronics engineering thread in the programming subforum, mostly anything related to cars goes in the automotive subforum, any DIY relating to computers goes in the hardware & software subforum.

Most other little things I used to make, I posted in the Creationism Corner section. Also, slightly off-topic, but a long time ago wasn't there a food sub-section in the hobbies bit? I've been doing a hell of a lot of cooking and I was thinking of posting pictures/recipes.
Yeah, pretty sure there used to be but it hasn't been around in quite a while.
Becouse facepunch is a bunch of lazy pricks like me
Probably because it's based around quite a specific topic and right at the bottom of the forums. It's pretty easy to miss.

Still, thanks for the link to the other food thread. Time to get cooking and snapping pictures!
