It is in in the public domain because its copyright has expired. It is based loosely on two popular novels of the time: From the Earth to the Moon by Jules Verne and The First Men in the Moon by H. G. Wells.[1] The film was written and directed by Georges Méliès, assisted by his brother Gaston. The film runs 14 minutes if projected at 16 frames per second, which was the standard frame rate at the time the film was produced. It was extremely popular at the time of its release and is the best-known of the hundreds of fantasy films made by Méliès. A Trip to the Moon is the first science fiction film, and uses innovative animation and special effects, including the well-known image of the spaceship landing in the moon's eye
I've seen this on The Syfy channels website, you can watch it there.
fucking creepy
Georges Méliès was like, the father of special effects.
Being old doesn't make movies good. And being historic doesn't make old movies good.
I watched it in communications class, it was hilarious.
Being old doesn't make movies good. And being historic doesn't make old movies good.
No one cares, or people would stop watching Citizen Kane, and to an extent Star Wars, which is a horribly generic movie plot-wise.
It's funny to think that the people filming saw the plot as fiction as flying cars.
Being old doesn't make movies good. And being historic doesn't make old movies good.
Except if you watch this movie it's interesting to see what they thought space travel would be like.
I remember they used to show this on Space Channel in its infancy. I miss when that channel was new. Same with Teletoon.
people would stop watching Citizen Kane, and to an extent Star Wars
So what? Citizen Kane was boring and the Star Wars films are some of the worst sci-fi devised by man.
I'm not saying it's good. Stop being a cock. i'm saying it's funny. That's what it was intended to be, a comedy.
So what? Citizen Kane was boring and the Star Wars films are some of the worst sci-fi devised by man.
The point is that people still watch them. So no one cares.

I didn't think Citizen Kane was boring.
