This is the progress of the mushroom lamp I've been working on for TAFE (college) I'm doing Visual Arts & Contemporary Craft Certificate II, and we're doing ceramics at the moment :) It still needs some evening out as you can probably tell, and also needs to be glazed and fired. I've made it so you can put a candle on the inside and the light glows through the holes. Could look really cool when finished, what colors are you thinking of?
Make it some kind of surreal color instead of a white/red or brown. Maybe a blue and purple, that would be interesting. And also, you should try making a ceramic cactus. I would pay to see that.
I was thinking of a nice purple, not too light and not too dark :) maybe make the stem a light purple though. Not sure about that part yet.
I think it'd look great with the colours dribbling down the sides. Looks awesome!
That's an excellent idea! cheers :)
I would use a low fire glaze, maybe a cone 6, something that has some oxides in it. It'd be nice if you fired it a few times getting some nice layered glaze action with some dynamic glazes that move quite a bit. I'd stay away from the high fire, solid color, silica high glazes as that just makes everything look amateur.
so far it's allright. Don't you dare to fuck up the colouring.
Hope you give it a sort of psychedelic glossy glaze, it'd look strange without a polished looks.
