Its out now as a snapshot yes
this makes me very happy

I barely even care about Minecraft updates anymore if only because I really don't play vanilla Minecraft and mods take for fucking ever to update to a new version, if they ever do. Most mods are still stuck in 1.8 and that shit is 2 years old.
They changed combat mechanics in 1.9
so they have more than like... two weapons now?
so they have more than like... two weapons now?
It's not spam clicking now, you have to time them. An axe will do more damage than a sword, but it's slower for the next hit.
It's not spam clicking now, you have to time them. An axe will do more damage than a sword, but it's slower for the next hit.
aren't axes for chopping wood? :v: so 3 weapons then, kinda pathetic to even have a combat system then
aren't axes for chopping wood? :v: so 3 weapons then, kinda pathetic to even have a combat system then
To be fair an axe would fuck someone up. [t]https://www.raymears.com/_rm_pictures_/Gransfors-Small-ForestAxe1.jpg[/t]
holy fuck they nerfed the everliving shit out of hunger so now doing basic shit like fucking walking and breaking blocks doesn't cause your hunger to go down nearly as much or at all http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/1.11#Gameplay_2 now all they need to do is put world generation to pre-adventure update methods and we'll be set

I would've liked an on/off toggle for hunger.
has anything major even happened since i got tired of it in 2011? i guess that non-java rewrite will never happen (except for w10 mc)
Windows 10 edition is the non-java re-write. Not sure how it's coming along besides the main release but it's being worked on. Has there been any major updates? Depends how major you mean *Added an adventure mode for player created content *Mountains of new creatures, zombie sieges in villages *Lots of new foods and resources *Several new ways to deal with farm animals (it was pretty frustrating herding the fuckers before) *Can place blocks that execute server commands, can be pretty neat for custom servers *Major improvements to how redstone is handled and several new blocks for use with it *Several varieties of mounts that make it way easier to get around quickly and have different advantages *Custom launcher that helps immensely with managing the game - you can set up profiles that let you choose what version you want to play in exactly, and it makes it easier to install custom things like VR support profiles. *Huge amount of new decorations *Major improvements to the world and it's limits, terrain and biome generation, more kinds of plants, etc *Improved fishing system with different kinds of fish *Ocean dungeons *Big list of new things related to mapmaking for adventure mode *More customization for skins *Dual wielding, which can make a lot of things way less tedious and is generally a lot more useful than it sounds *Expanded stats for entities and players *Shields to go with the dual wielding *Big expansion of arrow types for achery. You can also activate redstone circuits with archery, which works together with the expanded redstone system. *You can get fairy wings to glide around like a magical princess (neat if you have a base up in the air somewhere, I like me some flying islands, also an absolute fucking trip in VR) *Igloos. This is important. *Loads of new enchantments, some of which are pretty useful, along with general improvements to the enchanting system *An option that lets you auto jump when running at a one high block obstacle *Of course, an enormous list of bug fixes and optimizations. These are just the cliff notes of the cliff notes, and while they're not the fastest developers in the world the game has definitely progressed a massive amount since 2011
I never liked this hunger mechanic, it's so tedious.
I think they can add to an experience if carefully managed but when a hunger bar drops at a speed that's too fast it's just silly and annoying
I never liked this hunger mechanic, it's so tedious.
the addition of hunger actually pretty much killed all my interest in the game. about once a year i go play creative mode for a week or two and then i go back to other games.

Shit like this continuously impresses me, but I think the best impression I've ever gotten from a terraria build was "eh" [t]http://i.amz.mshcdn.com/9wHhDKWCVU3otIKwz2v-H7lmLBI=/fit-in/850x850/http%3A%2F%2Fmashable.com%2Fwp-content%2Fgallery%2F25-minecraft-creations-that-will-blow-your-mind%2Fwinter-palace.jpg[/t][t]http://www.pcgamesn.com/sites/default/files/Hyperscale%20Minecraft%203.png[/t][t]http://i.i.cbsi.com/cnwk.1d/i/tim/2013/01/29/001_11.jpg[/t] and while I may not be able to make things as cool as that I still find that the stuff I am able to make is vastly more interesting to me than the neatest things I've seen in terraria
I'll only play this game when it becomes a 3D version of dwarf fortress

-snip im retarded- [editline]29th September 2016[/editline] also the biggest problem I have with Minecraft's content is that they keep adding stuff that adds nothing to the core gameplay and elements you spend the most time with. All the new structures are rare and therefore tedious to find since it requires you to walk pointlessly for a long ass time. Once you find them it takes like 5 minutes to experience everything they offer and they don't reward you with anything special, seeing them is like the biggest reward which is pretty damn boring The amount of base mobs is still the same since new mobs occupy the new places they've added and since those places are rare/hard to get to you'll rarely ever see them and the areas you'll spend the most time with still have the basic zombie/spider/skeleton mobs Similar thing with mining, they haven't added any new ores or things to find underground. E.g. there was a very long period of time where you couldn't obtain bones in Peaceful, why not add fossils or something? Just so you could collect more things, it's MINEcraft after all I mean I haven't played minecraft in years and stopped following its development for at least a year, but after spending half an hour on the wiki it doesn't seem like they changed their practices
I mean I haven't played minecraft in years and stopped following its development for at least a year, but after spending half an hour on the wiki it doesn't seem like they changed their practices
Just read the patch notes, there's been huge changes. They've happened slowly for sure but it's been out a long time.

If you set an arbitrary date it's kinda a meaningless statement. I don't see why the nether shouldn't count, and mining may or may not be what you spend most of your time doing depending on what you're building is made out of or what mods you have.
