"I don't get this," said Scarborough on his show Morning Joe. "This is neoconservatism on crack. How many miles of terrain does the United States have to occupy?" On Saturday, Senator Lindsey Graham told attendees of the Halifax International Security Forum that although the "last thing America needs is another military conflict," having a nuclear armed Iran is completely unacceptable. "So my view of military force would be not to just neutralize their nuclear program, which are probably dispersed and hardened, but to sink their navy, destroy their air force and deliver a decisive blow to the Revolutionary Guard," Graham said. "In other words, neuter that regime." Graham added that the United States should destroy their ability to conduct military operations and "hope the people inside Iran would have a chance to take their government and be good neighbors to the world in the future." When asked about Graham's comments, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said he thought they were a "joke" and that they should be ignored. "Don't take the American senator's remark too seriously," he told reporters. This is not the first time Graham has advocated the overthrow of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Speaking at the American Enterprise Institute in September, Graham called for military action to support "regime change" in Iran. "From my point of view, if we engage in military operations as a last resort, the United States should have in mind the goal of changing the regime," Graham said. "Not by invading, but by launching a military strike by air and sea." Scarborough's guest, Iranian-American writer and religious scholar Reza Aslan, noted that a military strike against Iran would do little to support regime change in that country. "Well listen, the Iranians as we know, hate their own government," stated Aslan. "They would like nothing more than a change in regime… But they are also, with the possible exception of Americans, the most patriotic, most nationalistic people on earth. This isn't Iraq, this isn’t Afghanistan… If you attack Iran, it's the best way to ensure that this government goes absolutely nowhere." "It will unify Iran and the Iranians, unlike a lot of our so-called allies in the Middle East, the public likes America," added Scarborough.
Video on source page.
i'm not even sure msnbc counts as a news network
i'm not even sure msnbc counts as a news network
well you're wrong
i'm not even sure msnbc counts as a news network
Really?
I've always liked Scarborough, for a conservative he's fairly reasonable. He can be pretty funny/entertaining too.
fuck iran go israel!!!
I agree with him and pretty much came to the same conclusion myself. Any kind of action in Iran would have to be similar to how Afghanistan was handled and absolutely relies on the Iranian people actually being willing to do something once they have the means. Probably not going to happen right now and pushing it wouldn't work but I'm sure US intelligence services are patiently waiting for the right time.
Graham is the biggest threat to American AND Iran.
Graham is the biggest threat to American AND Iran.
youre right lets assassinate him
The people of Iran fucking LOVE us. The government of Iran? Not so much.
The people of Iran fucking LOVE us. The government of Iran? Not so much.
It's closer to the relationship that European countries have with the US. Like them and get a lot of stuff from them but far too proud to admit they are better at anything. Much better than the polite hatred a lot of other countries have for the US.
america is that cool kid that everyone hates because they're fucking jealous
america is that cool kid that everyone hates because they're fucking jealous
It's almost like you're trying to aggravate someone.
A reasonable man in Washington?
It's almost like you're trying to aggravate someone.
I believe this is called "crolling". I don't know if I got that right or not. Anyone know?
A lot of Republicans need to stop thinking of America as the world police.
A lot of Republicans need to stop thinking of America as the world police.
I prefer to think of the US as the world landlords.
I prefer to think of the US as the world landlords.
I prefer to think of the US as the world debtor
I believe this is called "crolling". I don't know if I got that right or not. Anyone know?
No, it's just trolling. He's really bad and obvious though.
I prefer to think of the US as the world debtor
ZekeTwo, this is sort of like being a vegetarian south east asian student and being owed money by the Camorra.
I prefer to think of the US as the world debtor
I prefer to think of the UK as our asshole neighbor thats full of himself.
I prefer to think we get back on topic.
A lot of Republicans need to stop thinking of America as the world police.
Sounds good to me. I strongly believe we should cut our funding to the UN and focus on our own domestic problems.
Sounds good to me. I strongly believe we should cut our funding to the UN and focus on our own domestic problems.
Cut funding to the UN but not Israel?
I believe this is called "crolling". I don't know if I got that right or not. Anyone know?
Brolling perhaps?
Cut funding to the UN but not Israel?
Given that he said "focus on our own domestic problems" instead of "cut funding to the UN but no where else", I would think yes, cut Israel.
Sounds good to me. I strongly believe we should cut our funding to the UN and focus on our own domestic problems.
Payment to the UN: $362.7m Entire Defence budget: $548.9b Surely you can find something else to pick on.
He's totally right. Attacking Iran is an idiotic idea.
He's totally right. Attacking Iran is an idiotic idea.
A direct military assault on Iran is a stupid idea. Doesn't mean there aren't other ways to do something about it.
promise riches and wealth to africa then get them to sacrifice themselves for our cause then we go over and finish the job
