• Vista 32 laptop freezing after log on

The mouse freezes, I can't toggle caps lock or anything even. Everything completely stops. The only thing I can do is turn it off by holding the on button down. It does this on all user accounts. It works fine in safe mode so I'm running a full scan in Avast now. If this doesn't find anything, my plan is to do a system restore... Does anyone have any other suggestions or do you think I'm on the right track? Edit: Right ok so a system restore didn't work. I currently have no clue what to do next. :frown: Edit: Ok so I waited 5 minutes and it unfroze... Gona reboot and see if it freezes again. Edit: Right ok, it freezes every time, ~2 mins after login, for about 2 minutes. At least it works and it's not too long to wait :/
What laptop are you using? Could very well be the BIOS.
If it was the BIOS then I wouldn't be able to boot in safe mode.
If it was the BIOS then I wouldn't be able to boot in safe mode.
Okay, its just I had something like this before on my Lenovo, at least you are doing a scan. If all else fails, back everything up in safemode and a reinstall of Windows would fix the problem. Suppose you don't want to do that.
Same thing is happening to me, on windows 7 x64 though; freezes completely even for 10 min sometimes and the HDD led is always on, if i click something i have to wait about 1 minute for anything to happen
