I haven't played it yet, but what happened? This game went quite pretty quiet quickly after the release.

It's a really fun game, but the story was so blatantly split in half to create a sequel. It also put a lot of emphasis on a dumb challenge mode no one ever plays. Gameplay wise it's great.

bad performance and an unfinished story happened
still a good game tho

I'm enjoying what I've played so far massively compared to HR as the gameplay is much more open to letting you do things and was built knowing what they did wrong in HR.
But holy shit the PC version is a special kind of mess at times. Opening the customisation menu for guns crashes the game consistently if I do it in very specific locations, move a few inches away and it's fine. Numerous NPCs have had their meshes fuck up and either invert the normals of every other face, or just stretch a polygon all the way across the hub world.
The actual performance isn't super great, but it's enough to get by in the game. If only the graphical fuckery would cease.
The game isnt bad, when you fight the final boss, you expected you are like on 60-70% of the game, but thats actualy the end.
had no perfomace issues with a 1070 and 2500k
with 75% discount it is a fair price for it.
Needs more Eliza really, it kinda just gave us some development with her but then stopped, I don't like that.

Also no performance issues with a 6850k and Vega 64. Also ran pretty well on an R9 290 and R9 Fury. It ran like shite on my 1090T though.
Like others said, its a great game but its way too short. The other modes or whatever didn't seem to matter or whatever. IIRC they had some payment model for ingame goods but I never ever ever ever came close to ever needing to use it.
They built a great framework for a game but it just needed better performance and more content.
They could easily extend this for another game however it didn't do good enough to justify another game right away sadly.
Does anyone know if the DLC for this game is any good? The season pass goes on sale pretty regularly on Xbox for about $7.

Performance was very hit and miss for me, but yeah I forgot to mention the graphical glitches that would happen from time to time. Worst I got was this crazy shit whenever I was in Prague. Rest of the game was fine, but this ONLY happened in the Prague level day or night. According to the steam forums I wasn't the only one either.
I mean look at this shit. I tried lowering the settings and it still happened lmao.

Literally every time I've encountered that in a game it was either a driver issue or a hardware issue. I had that problem all the way back on my first Xbox 360 because the GPU got damaged and it got bad enough some games were unplayable like Brutal Legend. Or for instance the original Watchdogs gave me the same issue where looking at the map was impossible sometimes because the map had 3D models rendered in it which just broke the fuck down in an instant. It was also pop up occasionally in gameplay as well. Updating my old ass drivers fixed it immediately.
If you're experiencing that regularly in a game, its quite possibly something other than the game, but the game is making it apparent.
Yeah you're probably right. I recently got my 1070 when I played it and assumed my drivers were up to date. Stupid move on my part :suicide:
never buying a square enix game again unless it's the second coming of christ because of what they did to my favorite franchise. fuck you and those like you in this diabolical industry
I hope JC raids your R&D labs like he did at Versa-Life
I didn't even know that the game was unfinished story wise, I barely played it because of the denuvo and poor optimization.
Another reason to rip on this game is the microtransactions for buying skill points and other dumb consumables, and one time use preorder bonuses

I hope that whatever happened with Hitman happens with DE next. From what I can tell IO quickly got on its feat with the franchise in hand and has been making positive changes to the game and its model moving forward and still plans for a season 2
If you're looking for a prequal to the original Deus Ex, prepare to be dissapointed. The story goes absolutly nowhere in terms of setting the events of the game in motion and more technological anachronisms litter the scenery.
If you are looking for a sequal to HR, then this is pretty good. Just unfairly hard until you figure out that you should have upgraded your health and damage resistance...

I love Deus Ex but this one just didn't click for me

These things weren't even noticeable and barely effected the game.
I had a fucktonne Neuropozyne bottles by the end of the story and my skills were really well varied, it's shitty they put them in but at least it didn't effect the game.

???? You can still cheese it with cloak like before
I only upgraded hacking and movement so I had a shitload of praxis at the end of the game and just got max cloak and battery to cheese it and pull a massive fuck you to the bad guys since [sp]I saved the people and took down the baddie[/sp]
It originally ran like garbage for me but one of their later patches fixed stuttering and doubled my framerate so I can't complain about the optimization. Looks pretty good too
The story wasn't anything special but I really enjoyed the gameplay.

this game and HR were way too easy
I'd complain about the game being too easy but what can you do, really?
You play as a dude who can go invisible, dash like Usain bolt, and jump 2 stories.
As far as stealth goes, the only way I can see them making these games harder would be to make the AI smarter and path less predictably, though it is expected for guards in games to run the same path ad infinite
I had a really good time with the game, ended up with a good 40-ish hours of game, that's probably why I didn't mind the ending, though I really hope they'll be able to release a sequel.
One thing I liked about MD's ending was how unlike in HR and even original deus ex [sp]it showed you the consequences of everything you did, including optional quests and such, kinda sorta fallout style[/sp]

Yeah, they absolutely made your choices at least seem like they meant something over the course of the story, whereas in the others, especially the original two, your choices only matter in literally the last five minutes or so.
Please buy this so we can get another Deus Ex. I'm screaming at Square Enix to make another fucking title. If you haven't played MD, you can't understand how horrifically they chopped the game in half to make another sequel, and worse than that almost everything in the game felt like it was leading up to huge reveals in the next title. It's got an absolutely insane amount of lore and they were building up to REALLY getting into the story and connecting the dots from Human Revolution to the original Deus Ex and then like people said, you fight a boss expecting for the pieces to fall into place in another zone but that's it, he was the final boss, games over.
It's agonizing to think about.
