The geeky side of me is so excited and happy about this, especially since AI is one of the main reasons I'm studying computer science. I believe that what Facebook are doing here is an amazing service to the world. As a person living in the middle east, I know that there are areas where there is no internet connection. For example, my family owns a vacation house close to the dead sea. The house is located in a village where there is absolutely no internet connection. Although many of the residents of that village seem to own a computer, I believe that most of them have probably never used the internet in their lives. That is why, I believe that what Facebook are doing is a great service! A lot of people may say that Facebook may have another motive, such as data mining, and that may be true; however, at least there are people living in rural areas all over thw world who have never had an internet connection, and they will benefit from this. What scares me, though, is the ability for stalkers to use this service to find their victims' locations, but that is already achievable through other means, anyway.

Also you know their push for Internetdotorg is terrible for everyone but them, right?[/QUOTE]
said several people without actual evidence.
yea, let's just lead abusive parents back to their kids and provide tools to stalkers etc.
this is probably the most open to abuse public system ever contrived, it should be shut down.
