Neighbors in Park Slope, Brooklyn are seeing red and orange when it comes to the owner of a brand new bright orange Dodge Challenger. They say that William Caraballo surrounds his bright orange sports car with bright orange traffic cones when he parks his vehicle in any spot.
As long as the cones aren't literally taking up another spot and are right next to the car, i don't see the issue considering many telephone/other companies put cones around their cars. No local law prevents cones from being placed around vehicles on public streets. Article seems to be trying to spin it up saying hes holding a spot, but in reality just seems to be protecting his car from minor bumps in NYC parking

your car is lookin nice, cubeman.
Imagine having your masculinity attached and entirely dependant on an ugly orange automobile.

companies are allowed to put up traffic cones because they have a permit.

Imagine having a nice looking/somewhat expensive car that you don't want people running into. You're making an awful lot of assumptions based on this guys car choice. Like what's the deal with people assuming those who buy muscle cars are doing it for the masculinity?
Imagine having your masculinity attached and entirely dependant on an ugly orange automobile.
Or maybe it is to protect something he likes a lot? Nah that can't be it...
companies are allowed to put up traffic cones because they have a permit.
varies on the ordinances of municipalities and states. i dont know NYC law regarding it but so long as it isn't blocking access, ingress and egress of the road and spaces around it i see no problem.

wtf, do you not own a car or work for a living?
wtf, do you not own a car or work for a living?
if i own an automobile, i'm not gonna use it to show off with an excessively loud engine or speeding dangerously. pretty sure that's he meant by showing off how much of a gruff man you are
if i own an automobile, i'm not gonna use it to show off with an excessively loud engine or speeding dangerously.
Making a lot of assumptions here.

Yep, everyone who owns a powerful vehicle ALWAYS speeds dangerously. More assumptions yet again. Also muscle cars aren't always loud, especially stock.
EDIT: It's rather anecdotal but the safest drivers I have ever met are people that own cars with more than 500 HP.

you're arguing details here you can't actually deny that muscle cars are needlessly expensive to fuel masculinity extenders
I don't understand the problem. How does this bother people in any way?
you're arguing details here you can't actually deny that muscle cars are needlessly expensive to fuel masculinity extenders
that's quite a projection
you're arguing details here you can't actually deny that muscle cars are needlessly expensive to fuel masculinity extenders
"needlessly expensive" I'm sorry where are you going to find ANY sportscar/GT/SRT/whatever the fuck for less than $20,000? I mean shit, the 2015 Impreza WRX is $26 grand, and that's a fucking 4 door.
In richmond I saw some guy leave his spot and pull out a cone to put in his space so nobody would take it. I was dropping my girlfriend off at the time so when she left my car to go into her apartment she stole the cone.
that's quite a projection
The European obsession with public transportation is fucking weird sorry
Literally the same thing from the US POV.
This has nothing to do with the thread.
Related: They're cones. Let them be for fucks sake.
Psychological projection is a theory in psychology in which humans defend themselves against unpleasant impulses by denying their existence in themselves, while attributing them to others.[1] For example, a person who is rude may constantly accuse other people of being rude.
it was a jab at your sudden unprovoked connection between muscle cars and masculinity compensation. The suggestion was that you were taking your self-denied need to compensate onto muscle cars and projecting them onto a common attribute: you were the only one obsessed enough to make an unrelated comment about a lack of masculinity.
I hope this helped clear up any confusion.

Maybe someone saved up money for something they've always wanted. And once they spend all that money, they won't want anyone to bash into it because they're shit at parallel parking, so they put up cones. not everyone in the world is an asshole.
Also, "the British obsession with tea is just fucking weird sorry", "the Chinese obsession with rice is just fucking weird sorry", "the Irish obsession with drinking is just fucking weird sorry"

I think he's just jealous because it's too wide to fit on English roads (joking, obviously).

It's not just the US with an obsession for cars, I'm fairly sure a lot of European countries, the UK included has a pretty big car culture. It's just a different type of car.
The only problem I see with this is I would be very upset if I was riding my bike down a crowded street and I got smushed up in between a car and a parked car and crashed because the only way to go is through large cones. Also, park slope is nice but it's still Brooklyn, calling this kind of attention might deal more damage than protect from it.

You do realize your country produces Top Gear, the most popular car show...
...in the world.
What a weird guy....like if a car is going to crash into yours its not going to automatically stop and turn because you had some magical pylon force field protecting it.
And to everyone saying he most likely doesn't care about showing off hes just trying to "magically" protect his car...he has dodge challenger written out on every single one of those pylons ffs like calm down man we can see what kind of car it is relax.
(I like muscle cars before you guys try to argue with me about them) Just pointing out the obvious.

top gear isn't a car show don't let the cars fool you
it's literally a car themed 'lad talk show'
