I was wondering if anyone with a Toshiba Qosmio x505 Q885 series laptop, or similar, has added another hard drive to the secondary bay. I have done some research and found out that the bay does not come with the necessary components (chassis and screws) to properly install a new hard drive, although some suggest simply cramming the hard drive in and surrounding it with padding.
I have looked at this 1TB drive and this 750GB drive They cost virtually the same, but the latter runs at 7200RPM, while the former runs at only 5200RPM. So my first question would be whether this speed difference is worth sacrificing the extra space.
My next question is whether it's worth purchasing the extra hardware to install them properly, rather than cramming it into the bay with padding.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope someone has experience adding a drive to a Qosmio laptop. Suggestions for other ways of getting more space for cheaper are also appreciated.

Yes

Thanks, that's easy enough, I'll go with the faster drive. But I still don't know whether I should spend the cash on proper hardware to install it. It totals around 20 dollars, so I want to be sure it's worthwhile.
For 20 dollars to make it fit right, or stuff padding into the spot? Answer seems obvious.

Alright, I'll drop the extra cash and do it right. Thanks guys :v:
