It’s one small step for man , one giant leap for the wii-u scene.
I Can Exclusively reveal that the first step to a wii-u hack has been completed & tested & working
I have personally tested the exploit and it is 100% REAL .
Hello nonsensical title.
I saw the title, expecting an M rated zelda game. I was disappointed.
wii u piracy would pretty much be kicking them while they're down, especially if it got to the levels the original wii did
So, people have figured out how to hack the Wii U. What does that have to do with it's target audience?

That it is no longer just for them.
That it is no longer just for them.
stop post please
That it is no longer just for them.
It was never "just for them". Just because a console's target audience happens to be children doesn't mean that they made it with just them in mind.
That it is no longer just for them.
Can't tell if trolling or his opinion of Nintendo is that stupid.
[editline]23rd February 2014[/editline]
Which is hilarious because most people I know who own a Wii-U are adults who grew up playing Nintendo and enjoying the Wii U's amazing First Party lineup.
That it is no longer just for them.
The biggest non-Nintendo launch title was Zombi U. A cheerful game for children ten and under, obviously.

but it sucked.....
but it sucked.....
It was unpolished/rushed, but it wasn't terrible.
but it sucked.....
The game felt like it was rushed to be a launch title. It is a shame, especially since there are some real good moments in the game.
Just letting you know /v/ is not like Facepunch
Also this doesn't actually help anything, considering this was already dumped before
terrible title
Lots of different people on different forums are saying that they have used the bootrom dumper themselves and it matches up to what Fail0verflow says the hashes are. I'd assume that this is legit.
Okay, hackers learned how to hack a Wii-U. Because that's clearly important news to everyone and totally deserves a thread on SH instead of a mention in some Wii-U related thread in the gaming section.

god i am so FUCKING UPSET about this thread!!!
Damn this sucks
I hope it doesn't pull a PSP and die because devs are spooked about pirates.

Pirates are bad and all, but honestly I haven't found a console that rivals the original PSP when it comes to pure game library and capability, though.
Even though the PSP was hacked rather early in its life cycle, it still appealed to many developers, actively fought against firmware hacks in its lifecycle and came out with some pretty cool games... while being able to emulate anything up to the PS1 flawlessly with hardware controls.
I later bought a 3DS, but then immediately sold it after a week disappointed because it had nowhere even near 10% of any of the games you could play on a PSP.
Honestly, after seeing what the PSP and PS3 were capable with running otherOS / homebrew, I can't ever justify buying a console that can't run homebrew because they feel horribly locked down.
Why would you have seperate media center / portable utility and console devices when the hardware inside are the same thing? Consoles are perfectly capable of being more than consoles.

OP probably browses /v/, it's a pretty common derogatory term for Wii U owners there.

Way to blow my post out of proportion, dude. I just don't see a reason why figuring out how to hack a console should be considered a headline. Especially when the OP only posted it with the implication that somehow now people who aren't 10 can finally enjoy it (feeding into the ignorant statement that it was only for 10 year olds in the first place).
I mean, is there something special about the Wii-U that made it so that hacking it should be considered a huge deal?

it could have major implications for the already-struggling console because it enables piracy, which was rampant on the original wii

... Why the fuck did that not cross my mind until now? Fuck, sorry, then.

OP is shit yeah but if it has potential to make as huge of an impact as people are saying here, it's definitely newsworthy.
From the NeoGAF thread showing a data dump of bootrom.bin from the Wii U:

cool
edit:
I'm pretty removed from the gaming world, I do mod most of the game systems I get although I don't pirate games I still get people preaching at me every no wand then about how mods ruin the game companies business. Well I've never been the kind of person who buys anything new, I always buy stuff from pawn shops and from ebay and whatnot, so they really aren't losing a sale from me because I never would have made one directly from them anyway.
Although it will be a problem for game sales, it's gonna boost console sales tremendously.
