As I said in the other thread. Battlefield 3 was in development for multiple years and they were probably planning for it to go on steam at one point in time. They then realized that they could make more money through cutting out valve and rebranded EA download manager to origin, or the crysis 2 scandal had something to do with it. Take your pick.

It might be interesting if I cared.
i'll buy it if it comes on steam
It would be an interesting business decision. They've already given Origin the attention they wanted it to get, so now adding it to Steam would get them more sales. That would piss off a fuckton of people though.
That being said, I highly doubt it will ever show up on Steam. EA is just going to fruitlessly continue to attempt to take over the market by keeping all their shit to themselves.
I'd buy it on sale on steam. The price would still depend on if they got rid of battlelog or not
i hope theres a option to MOVE ORIGIN USERS TO STEAM
What's the point of announcing it this late after millions of fans has already bought the origin copy?
Unless there are ways to migrate it to over steam, I don't see why I should buy the game again on Steam for not wanting Battlelog and Origin
Doesn't really matter to me. If not being on Steam is enough to make you avoid purchasing it then you obviously didn't care much about it to begin with.
While it would have been nice to get it on steam, I'm not mad that I didn't. I don't use origin for anything else and I don't even launch the game from origin.

Not really. What if it was OS X exclusive?
"If not being on Windows is enough to make you avoid purchasing it..."
I like how the guy who wrote the article combined what was being said in the comments and article of the RPS one and tries to pass it off as his own.

Theres a big difference between an Operating System and a Digital Distributor.
While I wish it was on steam I now don't want it to because as someone using origin it'd be a pain to be asking people what their origin name is to add them and get "I use steam" unless of course I can see steam chat in game etc.

I think the whole ordeal doesn't help the generalization that PC gamers are a bunch of whiny elitists. I mean it's one thing that people with consoles complain a game isn't on their platform but here we are complaining because we can't buy it from a certain distribution service.

Holy shit. I'm so sorry for complaining about the fact that consoles are much worse than PCs. Is it wrong to complain about things that are bad?

ESPECIALLY because we often get the short end of the stick.

say you want to buy something and its only available at one store.
in order to enter the store you must sign a paper saying you cannot sue them.
one you sign it an employee comes and kicks you in the dick.
you probably wont want to make any purchases there again
I sure hope I can launch my Origin version from Steam, I'm sick of hoping Origin doesn't crash when I open it to access the one game I have on it.
Origin has never fucking crashed for me, battlefield 3 on the otherhand has, when you switch tabs the battlelog plugin fucks over while joining a game which kind of makes sense. But I've been able to connect most of the time, and the other times I can't blame BF3 for the hosts shitty server hosting.

Well so far Origin hasn't made it to the dick kicking part in your analogy.
It hasn't actually done anything bad (yet), you're just being a whiny elitist
I use origin and it's actually faster than the menus used to be in Battlefield 2.

What does game instability have to do with launching three programs? They can patch that kind of stuff, you know.
I still have to go through 3 programs to get into a game. It's entirely unecessary. The only reason i've put up with steam and have come to like steam is because they provide excellent services such as steam communities and free weekends.
Origin has nothing like these to offer, and I already have steam.
How do you need to start 3 programs? You start Origin and one internet browser window. That's all you need.

I was able to migrate my Medal of Honour: Limited Edition over to Origin from Steam. If you can do that vice versa for Battlefield 3 then I'm all for it.

log into origin
log into battlelog
finally let bf3 load
game crash
let bf3 load
log into origin

Yeah? How's that different from using steam for example?
Start steam
Start your game
Go trough all the intros, get to the menu
Go into the server browser, select server
Let game load.
How's that different from
You run steam, steam starts game, join server from game, don't have to restart game for each server.
