This is a newish band called Summertime Knives from Texas they have two songs recorded right now but are recording like there is no other Let me know what you think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCwCG4SoLOQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_FBX5Lbybk&feature=related
The instrumental aspect is good sounding, but the singer is really annoying. Not only that, but he seems to be mastered really high in the mix, so it doesn't blend with the instruments well when he's singing. e: So far as second song goes, he should never ever use distortion like that again. That kind of stuff has it's place but that's not it.

Drum mics? Really? A normal vocal mic runs you like $30-40 for acceptable quality, a drum mic really isn't designed for voice. And if at all possible, use something other than Garageband. Doesn't have to be something professional like Sonar but maybe Ableton or anything that's just better quality. Like I said, the instruments sound good, but the vocals and quality make it a bit hard to listen to. If they wanna go for lo-fi, that's good, but there's a difference between lo-fi and low quality.
Oh yeah the instruments are recorded on drum mics, the vocal is on a vocal mic, the brand escapes me and when it comes to garageband, they are on a low budget so thats all they have
Oh, ok then. Well, idk what to say about the vocals then. They're just not that great to me, but that's just an opinion thing. What's their budget range? Ableton is only around $180, Cubase Studio is $300 but it's amazingly good, and Cubase Essentials is $75. Not sure what all that contains, but I would suggest it because really, Cubase is a great program.
Not sure on the exact budget rate, but seeing as only one of the five members actually holds a job, its not much hahah
Sounds quite good, actually.

What exactly is a drum mic? You pretty much use a the whole family of microphones for an entire drumset. Anyway, about the songs, they sound pretty nice. Not really my style, so I don't want to comment too much though. It seems that in both songs, you stick to the one same chord sequence through the entire songs (except for a few random bits here and there). This doesn't have to be a bad thing, but keep in mind that it's a pretty risky move since it usually needs to be quite spectacular for a listener to buy it for 4 minutes. Keep it up!
My bad, when I said drum mic, we put a kick mic next to the amp and record like that but thank you for the positive response and critiques.
