I am looking to replace the laptop I am using now. It has a Pentium m@1.6GHz and a mobility radeon x300 and had had the following fixed about it: The keyboard had to be replaced because around 5 keys fell off around 6 months after I got it. the HDD had to be replaced because it was heavily used and went to almost every state the USA. the hinges had to be re-drilled and the screws replaced because they pulled out. And lastly the sound has been broken for around 2 years now and I think its finally time to get a new laptop after 5 years of use. So i'm looking for a laptop or netbook that would play games as well or better than my old laptop for <$450. Can it be done?
Heh, a lot of netbooks are more powerful than that. You can easily get a laptop/netbook that'll run some games easily for $450
How about this either this 12.1'' netbook ($430, or $380 w/ rebate) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220761. or this 10.1'' netbook ($430, no rebate) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220850 They both have ION so they should be able to game on low
I'm not sure about US prices, but my only advice is to not get a netbook unless you NEED something that small or can't afford anything better. Their price perfomance ratio is terrible.

They also say the netbooks have a death rate double that of laptops. So if the average laptop will have a problem within the first 2 years of owning it (which a lot of them do encounter an issue within the first 2 years) the netbook will encounter a problem within the first year.
I've been using my 1005HA for 1 and a half years now with no problems also installed Windows 7 Home Premium on it since I had an extra license, works perfectly still

I guess I should add the disclaimer to my post like it seems I always have to do. Not every single laptop or netbook is going to have an issue. And by issue I mean anything, keyboard quits working, HDD issues, dead pixels on a screen, track pad goes out pretty much ANYTHING. Not just device crippling defects. I am currently on my laptop from 2007ish and it is clearly still running.
the only problems I had with my 1005HA were caused by me, not the device
