• 120,000 Volt Transformer Build

I just got a new transformer, this one is 1000:1 ratio. So in goes 1 volt, out 1000. It is said to be rated for 100kV at 10mA emission current. It is a continuous transformer, unlike other x-ray transformers. It has no problem outputting 100mA+ for short bursts too. I dropped the isolated filament winding since I have no use for it. If I ever do need a filament supply I can just rewind a MOT with thick HV cable and pot it under oil and run it off a separate variac. Pardon the mess, the layout is temporary. I'm going to add bushings, some sort of support for the head (has a rounded bottom) and close up those holes. If anybody has a suggestion, please let me know, I paid a good deal for this damn thing and I want to get the most out of it. Oh yeah, I plan to use it for fusors, x-rays, RF generation, and mucking about. No evil intent.

Video please. Like right now.
Video please. Like right now.
I just worked on it last night and haven't filmed much at all. I do have this however. That isn't even full output. I actually just flashed over the windings across the core - which wasn't properly grounded. Perhaps by design, no idea. At full output it arced about 10 inches and then the breaker tripped. I took the transformer apart and repotted it and it seems to work ok. I'm an idiot. I really should just wait and vacuum it out.
