An 11-year-old boy accused of murdering a man during a brawl outside a Perth train station intends to apply for bail, a court has heard. The boy is believed to be one of the youngest people ever charged with murder in Australia. The 26-year-old victim died in hospital after the assault near Elizabeth Quay Station in the early hours of January 27. The slightly-built child, who cannot be named, was arrested on Friday and is the fourth person to be charged over the death, while the other three are young men. The Fuck, was it even about,.
Without meaning to post too much of the article:
...the prosecution says it will oppose the application. The boy said "yep" when asked if he understood proceedings and will return to court on February 17.
I wonder if he's taking it seriously or if he's kind of stuck in a weird defense so he doesn't have to face the fact that he murdered someone. Quick "yeps" so he doesn't have to think about it and show vulnerability. I would be afraid of whether or not he would allow himself to face what he did, or stuck in a permanent loop that influences hardcore narcissism. Dunno, maybe it's a stretch to say all of this based on literally one word that the news decided to release, but if this is the case that's really weird and I'd have that fear.
Somehow I don't think this kid entirely understands the gravity of the situation he's in. Then again, what eleven year olds do?
well, the other 3 arrested were young men. always horrible to see people exploiting/influencing children.
I thought children under a certain age couldn't be charged for murder? I remember being taught that you couldn't be charged for murder because they couldn't have malice aforethought. It was a while ago so maybe I'm remembering wrong

He killed a 26 year old in a brawl? I must be missing something here. "Brawl" implies bare hands imo.

Sounds like they ganged up on him.
