• Guitar string issue.

So, I have a Floyd Rose Special tremolo bridge, and I play on 9's (Super Slinkys, which my guitar is gauged for.) My issue is that my low E string is unwinding at the bridge. This is making the string stretch when I try to tune the guitar, throwing the bridge out of float and bringing the string down a full step or more. Is there any way I can stop this from happening when I replace the string? I'm googling as I post this, but I'll probably get better feedback from here.
Have you tried any other string sizes with the guitar?
A reply? The hell you say! Anyway, yes. My friend had a custom gauge he played with in drop C, but he didn't set anything up for it. I'm gonna tune back up though and the guitar comes prepared for nines, so that's what I got.
What tuning do you play in?
I'm trying to get back to drop D. When I up the tension on the string, though, it just unwinds... It's a fresh string, too. Or, it was when it first started doing this and I haven't played since. [editline]time[/editline] Sorry, I lied. I'm trying to get up to drop C from standard B. Mixed up which of my guitars were in which tunings.
Hmmm... I'm assuming there's no trouble putting the strings on the guitar? Are you fine doing it, or are you a bit of an amateur?

I'm pretty good at stringing the floyd. I've been playing on the floyd for a couple years, so I pretty much know how it works.
Well, I used to have a similar problem to yours with my cheap Fender Squire. When I was stringing it, I'd run the whole string through the tuning pegs and tighten it firmly before tuning. Which was dumb, because it was too tight and my string would stretch out. I reckon you should try some different strings out or perhaps alter how you're re-stringing the guitar. Pretty dumb advice, but I can't really think of another reason for it.

I'll probably just change it out again an see if it works. Thank you for the help :D
