Just noticed this today, but I'm noticing that if I drag a window anywhere, or if I move anything too fast, the vertical sync tears and I see half the window moving around like jelly, and the other half still in the old position. It's not huge, but I'm wondering if it's a sign the graphics card is dieing? I haven't entered any games yet, just opened the nVidia control panel and turned on force vertical sync, still no luck. According to my sister this is a GeForce 8400, and I'm stumped. I hate helping family members on vacation, totally ruins it. Last year it was a virus, this year it's this. It's like every time I touch this thing something goes wrong.
Ah, yes, the 'computer child' of the family. You should start charging.
Try this: http://xenomorph.net/?page_id=336
Once installed, click More Tools at the bottom and check the Performance Options. Turn off all window related graphic functions and animations. I use these settings purely for performance, but it may resolve your tearing problems.
Worked great, thanks!
Yeah, it really bites, because if I charge then they just give my shit for the holidays, and if I don't charge, then I get asked consistently, "My printer prints red lines!" or "It says I have a virus!" or even the occasional "It says it found over 4,000 viruses!". I swear people, stop inviting me to holidays for tech support.
Back on topic, that program needs to be portable.
Edit: IT IS!
Thumb drive attached to your car keys. Success.
