It could be time to bid the Big Bang bye-bye. Cosmologists have speculated that the Universe formed from the debris ejected when a four- dimensional star collapsed into a black hole — a scenario that would help to explain why the cosmos seems to be so uniform in all directions.
yeah well your mom is a 4d black hole
*Hypothesis states that...
I'm not sure I can even comprehend the implications of this, but
Mind=blown sums it up for me.
-snip, it was just a question, not sure why I got so many dumbs? Not everyone is an astrophysicist.-
I thought time was the fourth dimension.
MmmMmm, I sure do love rating articles I don't understand winner. Makes me feel smart.
What would a 4-D Black Hole even look like? This is just such a fascinating theory.
Well, we might know what one looks like on it's surface.
I thought time was the fourth dimension.
there is no set fourth dimension it can be anything
I came up with this theory on the spot as an example of how theories can be equivalent, in the matter of a few seconds, seeing literally what I came up with easily is hilarious. This theory is not equivalent however, it can deduce more than the current theory, so, yay.
IIRC, the so called String Theory, or M theory, don't remember if they're the same thing or even if they're viable anymore, but supposedly they state that there could be 9+ dimensions.
For all the complicated space talk, that was surprisingly easy to comprehend and a really neat idea.

uh pretty sure this idea's been around for a while
What if our universe is really small, and makes up part of some small building block (Like a cell in our body) of something much bigger, and that goes on and on and on and on

gee idk
I thought time was the fourth dimension.
time isn't a "spatial dimension". when someone says "4d", they mean an object that occupies 4 spatial dimensions. according to m-theory, an offshoot of string theory, there are 11 spatial dimensions(or membranes) that strings can vibrate in. gravity is actually thought to come from one of those extra dimensions(hence why gravity is so weak in the dimensions we can perceive). time is often thought of as a "4th dimension", but time is not the 4th dimension of "spacetime".

at least that's my layman's understanding.

a 4d black hole would look very black(like a 3d black hole), but would occupy 4 dimensions instead of 3.
A 4-D star collapsing into a black-hole sounds like something you'd find in a bad 70s sci-fi
What would a 4-D Black Hole even look like? This is just such a fascinating theory.
You tell me? Black holes have a gravitational pull so strong that not even light can escape it

What are you smoking, and where can I get some?
A 4-D star collapsing into a black-hole sounds like something you'd find in a bad 70s sci-fi
the more we learn about the universe, the more it seems like a bad 70s sci-fi.
I thought time was the fourth dimension.
Traditionally yes but then there's string theory and that's 11 dimensions (and in some cases 26) so fuck it
nobody's ever going to find evidence for string theory so neh
SO maybe within other black holes is other universes?
So what if we are in a black hole in a sea of black holes containing black holes that hold other holes into other universes.
That's alot of holes.
What are you smoking, and where can I get some?
Hey, you can cut into something and go smaller and smaller until you find quarks and shit like that, who's to say it doesn't keep getting smaller, or after us, doesn't get bigger
that was surprisingly easy to comprehend
that's why its wrong as all hell
I thought time was the fourth dimension.
There is no fixed order for the dimensions. Saying that time is the first dimension and the 3 spatial dimensions are the 2nd to 4th dimensions is just as valid.

Time is not a spacial dimension, "4d" refers to a fourth spacial dimension.
"hypothesis"
I hypothesize that the whole universe isn't actually there and you're just making it up
not believing a thing until johnnymo1 give's the thumbs up

I'm quite skeptical about this article
